Aspinwall Baystate began 45 years ago in a small spot at Aspinwall Ave and Harvard Street. Over the years, we have provided plumbing, heating, gas fitting, air conditioning, and service for residential and commercial customers in the Boston area.

South Shore 1871: our founder Alvin Hollis combined entrepreneurship with community service.

During that time, hay and grain were essential for most. To minimize expenses, Alvin established a railroad siding and acquired goods in large quantities. Horses pulled wagons for deliveries to homes and farms.

Venturing into heating and cooling, Alvin began supplying firewood and ice. He bought woodlots, erected an ice house close to Weymouth Great Pond, and delivered consistently to homes, farms, and businesses.

With the transition from wood to coal, Alvin and his son-in-law Leonard Bicknell created a state-of-the-art coal storage facility and used motorized trucks for transport.

As coal systems progressed, we launched Central Heating Systems in the South Shore.

Alvin Bicknell, Leonard's son, shifted from coal to oil by installing some of the first automatic heating systems in the state.

My great-great-grandfather made Alvin Hollis thrive by treating our customers and employees like family. Since 1871, we have carried on this legacy by prioritizing the safety and comfort of our South Shore neighbors.

My grandfather and father took pride in the smiles of our customers who appreciated their expertly crafted heating, cooling, and plumbing systems. As the fifth generation, I experience that same joy.

I began working part-time as a teenager and have been involved in every facet of our business. In 1991, I earned a BS from St. Lawrence University. Since then, I have relished my full-time role at Alvin Hollis, concentrating on Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.

In 1995, I started cycling alongside my dad in the Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon, together raising almost $800,000 for Dana Farber. I serve on the board of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and am a Platinum Member of the President's Circle at South Shore Hospital.
