With the transition from wood to coal, Alvin and his son-in-law Leonard Bicknell created a state-of-the-art coal storage facility and used motorized trucks for transport.

I began working part-time as a teenager and have been involved in every facet of our business. In 1991, I received my Bachelor of Science degree from St. Lawrence University. Since then, I have relished my full-time role at Alvin Hollis, concentrating on Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.

In 1995, I began cycling with my dad in the Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon, raising nearly $800,000 for Dana Farber. I serve on the board of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and am a Platinum Member of the President's Circle at South Shore Hospital.
