In the '80s, John Shekell took a significant step by acquiring the service center from George Koch Sons. This acquisition positioned Shekell as the largest HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. Shekell expanded further in 2000 by acquiring WSC Associates, a distinguished engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. After serving as a technician, he shifted to residential HVAC sales. Kevin subsequently took on roles as a commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager. He pursued his education at Oakland City University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

He took on the role of Vice President of Construction in 2004. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

He has been happily married for 16 years and is a father of two. He was the president of the Evansville SMACNA chapter between 2004 and 2006. Kevin took on the role of President of J.E. Shekell in January 2009.
