In 1978, John E. Shekell launched the company, starting with just one van focused on heating and air conditioning. The business soon branched out into plumbing and electrical work. During the 1980s, John Shekell propelled the company forward by purchasing George Koch Sons' service center. This acquisition positioned Shekell as the largest HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. Shekell expanded further in 2000 by acquiring WSC Associates, a distinguished engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. This new subsidiary enhanced Shekell's design capabilities, solidifying its presence in the area. Reflecting on the journey, John Shekell attributes the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to loyal customers, dedicated employees, extensive training, and a strong focus on safety.

Kevin, a native of Evansville, Indiana, graduated from Reitz High School in 1988. Kevin started working at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. After eight years as a service technician, he earned an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After serving as a technician, he shifted to residential HVAC sales. He then expanded his expertise to include commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimating and project management. At Oakland City University, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

Kevin was appointed Vice President of Construction in 2004. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

He has been happily married for 16 years and is a father of two. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. In January 2009, he was named President of J.E. Shekell.
