Poor John's Plumbing was established by Daryl Welker in 1987. He aimed to improve his family's living conditions. In 1995, he met his wife, who later became his business partner. Together, they managed the company until 2014. Today, their son and nephew manage the business, carrying on the family name.

The inception of Bob's Rooter Service by Bob Trowbridge on November 3rd, 2000. Brett, Bob's son, began assisting him in the summer and after school early on and now works full-time with Bob's Rooter. Bob's journey into the construction trades started when his parents bought a hardware store in the historic Northeast area of Kansas City located at St John and Hardesty for a decade. The hardware store was put on the market in the year 1988 as Bob's parents decided to retire. Bob then became a branch manager for Evergreen Lawn Care based in Grandview, MO, which was later taken over by Barefoot Lawn, causing Bob to search for new job opportunities once again. During 1991, Bob joined as shop manager with Reddi Services at their previous site located in Turner, KS. In time, Bob shifted to the field with Reddi Services in the role of service technician and continued with them up until spring 2000 when he lost both his parents. Bob chose to establish his own company and parted ways with Reddi Root'r.

My plumbing career began thirty-five years ago at Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. As I progressed to a master’s license, I sought new challenges, which I discovered at the respected Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. During my time there, I built a plumbing department from the ground up, learning the ins and outs of corporate operations while serving a diverse customer base throughout the Metro area.

As I taught plumbing classes to new recruits at Roto Rooter, I honed my knowledge of various plumbing products. After five years, driven by a yearning for greater independence, I partnered with Bob Miller to co-found Morgan Miller Plumbing in 1997. Our shared vision was to build a company that prioritizes fairness and generosity towards employees and customers alike.

In 2003, Marine Corps veteran Michael Mansell founded Full Nelson Plumbing, driven by the belief that Kansas City residents faced unfair practices from plumbing services.
