In 1965, Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis established the business as Lewis Heating & A/C. Situated at 202 S Broadway in Larned, they provided quality Maytag appliances, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and cooling systems, along with servicing all brands. They relocated to their present location at 622 Topeka Street in 1971. In 1977, Steven Lewis, their son, entered the business as an HVAC technician. Steven purchased the business from his parents in 2008 and changed the name to Comfort Systems Inc. to signify the shift towards comfort and energy efficiency.
Steven holds a State of Kansas license as a mechanical contractor and plumber. He is trained as a home energy rater and has been part of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Steven is also NATE certified in air distribution and duct installation.

Steven, a lifelong resident of Larned, KS, is a Leadership Larned graduate and has served as a member and Chair of the Building and Trades Board for the City of Larned. He is involved with the Fort Larned Lions Club, serving as Treasurer. He has occupied all leadership positions in the Club and served as District Governor, subsequently being elected Council Chairman for the Lions of Kansas.
