In 1987, Daryl Welker started Poor John's Plumbing. He aimed to improve his family's living conditions. He met his future wife in 1995, who joined him as a business partner. Together, they managed the company until 2014. Today, their son and nephew manage the business, carrying on the family name.

Bob's Rooter Service began was established by Bob Trowbridge in November 2000. Brett, Bob's son, joined him in the summer after school hours initially and now works full-time with Bob's Rooter. Bob's path into the construction industry began following his parents bought a hardware store in Kansas City's historic Northeast neighborhood at St John and Hardesty for ten years. This hardware store was eventually sold in the year 1988 as Bob's parents chose to retire. Following that, Bob became the manager for Evergreen Lawn Care based in Grandview, MO, which was later acquired by Barefoot Lawn, leaving Bob to seek new employment again. During 1991, Bob joined as shop manager for Reddi Services at their former location in Turner, KS. In time, Bob shifted to the field at Reddi Services as a service technician and continued with them until the spring of 2000 when he lost both his parents. Bob chose to establish his own company and parted ways with Reddi Root'r.

I started my plumbing journey thirty-five years ago with Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. As I progressed to a master’s license, I sought new challenges, which I discovered at the respected Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. At Roto Rooter, I was able to create a plumbing department from the ground up, acquiring knowledge of corporate processes while serving a diverse customer base throughout the Metro area.

While instructing plumbing classes for new hires at Roto Rooter, I honed my knowledge of various plumbing products. Five years later, inspired by a wish for greater autonomy, I joined forces with Bob Miller to establish Morgan Miller Plumbing in 1997. Our common goal was to create a business that values fairness and generosity for all, employees and customers alike.

In 2003, Marine Corps veteran Michael Mansell founded Full Nelson Plumbing, driven by the belief that Kansas City residents faced unfair practices from plumbing services.
