Standard Plumbing was founded by Harry Berger in 1923, when we installed our inaugural coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. With our name recognized, we secured our first major project, installing plumbing in the new Wareham hotel. Yes, that Wareham hotel!

In the midst of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger traveled to Alaska to pan for gold, while his wife managed the business. Upon returning from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company in 1941 as an apprentice plumber and worked there for 16 years before acquiring it in 1957.

Rick and Dale, Paul’s sons, eventually entered the family business. In 1958, we were proud to install the town's first central air conditioning unit. In January 1988, Rick acquired Dale Anderson's share of the business.

In 2004, four employees took ownership of the company. Three of those employees continue to serve on the Board of Directors and supervise the company’s operations. Since 1923, Standard Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has been proudly operating in the Manhattan, KS area. The foundation of our success is simple: ensuring customer satisfaction.
