In 1965, Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis established the business as Lewis Heating & A/C. At 202 S Broadway in Larned, they supplied quality Maytag items, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and air conditioning, in addition to servicing various brands. In 1971, they moved to their current address at 622 Topeka Street. In 1977, their son, Steven Lewis, joined the business as an HVAC technician. Steven acquired the company from his parents in 2008 and rebranded it as Comfort Systems Inc. to reflect the growing emphasis on comfort and energy efficiency.
Steven holds a State of Kansas license as a mechanical contractor and plumber. He has received training as a home energy rater and has been a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Steven is also NATE certified in air distribution and duct installation.
