In 1987, Daryl Welker started Poor John's Plumbing. He aimed to improve his family's living conditions. He met his future wife in 1995, who joined him as a business partner. The couple ran the company together until 2014. Today, their son and nephew manage the business, carrying on the family name.

Bob's Rooter Service was founded by Bob Trowbridge in November 2000. Bob's son Brett began assisting him in the summer after school hours from the start and is now a full-time employee for Bob's Rooter. Bob's path into the construction industry started after his parents purchased a hardware store in Kansas City's historic Northeast neighborhood at St John and Hardesty for a decade. This hardware store was put on the market in 1988 after Bob's parents opted for retirement. Afterward, Bob took on the role of the branch manager with Evergreen Lawn Care based in Grandview, MO, which was subsequently bought by Barefoot Lawn, leaving Bob to seek new employment yet again. In 1991, Bob started working as the shop manager at Reddi Services at their previous site located in Turner, KS. In time, Bob shifted to fieldwork with Reddi Services in the role of service technician and continued with them until the spring of 2000 following the loss of his parents. Bob made the choice to go into business for himself and parted ways with Reddi Root'r.

My plumbing career began thirty-five years ago at Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. As I progressed to a master’s license, I desired fresh challenges, which I found by joining the esteemed Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. During my time there, I built a plumbing department from the ground up, learning the ins and outs of corporate operations and catering to a wide range of customers across the Metro area.

While instructing plumbing classes for new hires at Roto Rooter, I deepened my expertise in various plumbing materials. Five years later, inspired by a wish for greater autonomy, I joined forces with Bob Miller to establish Morgan Miller Plumbing in 1997. Our shared vision was to build a company that prioritizes fairness and generosity towards employees and customers alike.
