In 1987, Daryl Welker started Poor John's Plumbing. His goal was to create a better life for his family. In 1995, he met his wife, who later became his business partner. They operated the business side by side until 2014. Currently, their son and nephew are at the helm, upholding the family tradition.

The inception of Bob's Rooter Service by Bob Trowbridge in November 2000. Brett, Bob's son, started working with him during the summer and after school from the start and is now a full-time employee with Bob's Rooter. Bob's path into the construction industry began after his parents bought a local hardware business in Kansas City's historic Northeast neighborhood situated at St John and Hardesty for a decade. The hardware store was sold back in 1988 after Bob's parents decided to retire. Following that, Bob became the manager with Evergreen Lawn Care based in Grandview, MO, which was later acquired by Barefoot Lawn Care, causing Bob to search for new job opportunities once again. In 1991, Bob joined as the manager of the shop for Reddi Services at their old location located in Turner, KS. Eventually, Bob transitioned to fieldwork with Reddi Services as a service tech and remained with them until the spring of 2000 following the loss of his parents. Bob made the choice to go into business for himself and said goodbye to Reddi Root'r.

I started my plumbing journey thirty-five years ago with Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. After obtaining my master’s license, I desired fresh challenges, which I found by joining the esteemed Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. At Roto Rooter, I was able to create a plumbing department from the ground up, learning the ins and outs of corporate operations while serving a diverse customer base throughout the Metro area.

As I taught plumbing classes to new recruits at Roto Rooter, I honed my knowledge of various plumbing products. Five years later, inspired by a wish for greater autonomy, I co-founded Morgan Miller Plumbing with Bob Miller in 1997. We envisioned a company that emphasizes fairness and generosity for both employees and customers.
