In 1965, Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis established the business as Lewis Heating & A/C. Situated at 202 S Broadway in Larned, they provided quality Maytag appliances, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and cooling systems, along with servicing all brands. In 1971, they transitioned to their current site at 622 Topeka Street. In 1977, Steven Lewis, their son, entered the business as an HVAC technician. Steven acquired the company from his parents in 2008 and rebranded it as Comfort Systems Inc. to reflect the growing emphasis on comfort and energy efficiency.
He is a licensed mechanical contractor and plumber in the State of Kansas. He is trained as a home energy rater and has been part of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Additionally, Steven is NATE certified in duct installation and air distribution.

A lifelong resident of Larned, KS, Steven graduated from Leadership Larned and served as a member and then Chair of the Building and Trades Board for the City of Larned. He is involved with the Fort Larned Lions Club, serving as Treasurer. Steven has taken on all leadership roles in the Club and has been District Governor, later elected as Council Chairman for the Lions of Kansas the next year.
