I am Lawrence De Hart, the proud owner of De Hart Plumbing Heating & Cooling. In 2012, I established this company after I was laid off from my plumbing job at Fort Riley. After months of searching for work without success, I decided to take a bold step and launch my own venture. With limited resources, no credit, and a strong desire to succeed, I transformed my small personal vehicle, a Chevy HHR, into my work truck and got to work. Now, De Hart Plumbing Heating & Cooling is recognized as the leading company in Manhattan and Junction City.

I grew up in the Junction City/Manhattan area. I’m 31 years old and have a wonderful 8-year-old son who means the world to me. Family is everything to me, and I value every moment spent with them. In 1923, Harry Berger founded Standard Plumbing, installing the first coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. With our name recognized, we secured our first major project, installing plumbing in the new Wareham hotel. Indeed, that very Wareham hotel!

During the tough times of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger went to Alaska to search for gold, leaving his wife to oversee operations. Upon returning from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company in 1941 as an apprentice plumber and worked there for 16 years before acquiring it in 1957.

Paul's sons, Rick and Dale, later became part of the family business. We made history in 1958 by installing the first central air conditioning unit in the area. In January 1988, Rick acquired Dale Anderson's share of the business.

In 2004, four employees took ownership of the company. Three of those employees continue to serve on the Board of Directors and supervise the company’s operations.
