Harry Berger established Standard Plumbing in 1923, installing our first coal-fed, gravity-fired furnace in Manhattan, KS. Once our name was established, we landed our first significant job, which was the plumbing installation for the new Wareham hotel. That’s right, the same Wareham hotel!

In the midst of the Depression and Dust Bowl, Mr. Berger traveled to Alaska to pan for gold, while his wife managed the business. When he returned from Alaska, Paul Anderson joined the company as an apprentice plumber in 1941, staying for 16 years before buying it in 1957.

Later, Paul’s sons, Rick and Dale, joined the family business. We made history in 1958 by installing the first central air conditioning unit in the area. In January 1988, Rick acquired Dale Anderson's share of the business.

In 2004, the company transitioned to four employees. Today, three of those original employees still serve as the Board of Directors, managing the company’s daily activities. Following my military career, I began working in commercial maintenance, eventually focusing on residential and rental services. I established this business to address the need for quick service, as people often waited too long for repairs to be completed.
