Poor John's Plumbing was established by Daryl Welker in 1987. His goal was to create a better life for his family. In 1995, he encountered his wife, and they teamed up in business. Together, they managed the company until 2014. Now, their son and nephew continue the family legacy.

Bob's Rooter Service was founded by Bob Trowbridge in November 2000. Brett, Bob's son, joined him in the summer after school hours early on and is currently a full-time team member with Bob's Rooter. Bob's path into the construction industry started when his parents acquired a hardware store in Kansas City's historic Northeast neighborhood located at St John and Hardesty for a decade. The hardware store was sold in 1988 as Bob's parents chose to retire. Afterward, Bob took on the role of the manager for Evergreen Lawn Care located in Grandview, MO, which was later taken over by Barefoot Lawn Care, leaving Bob to seek new employment once again. In the year 1991, Bob joined as the shop manager for Reddi Services at their former location in Turner, KS. Later, Bob moved to fieldwork for Reddi Services as a service tech and remained with them until the spring of 2000 when he lost both his parents. Bob made the choice to go into business for himself and parted ways with Reddi Root'r.

My plumbing career began thirty-five years ago at Morgan Plumbing & Heating Company. As I progressed to a master’s license, I craved new challenges, which I discovered at the respected Kansas City franchise, Roto Rooter. There, I had the opportunity to establish a plumbing department from scratch, learning the ins and outs of corporate operations while serving a diverse customer base throughout the Metro area.

As I taught plumbing classes to new recruits at Roto Rooter, I deepened my expertise in various plumbing materials. Five years later, inspired by a wish for greater autonomy, I joined forces with Bob Miller to establish Morgan Miller Plumbing in 1997.
