In 2015 - the previous owner retired from Commercial Service. Scott took the helm was named President and CEO. Scott then designated Adam VP of Commercial Operations, Charlie Laughlin VP of Residential Operations & Humphrey as the Chief Financial Officer.

Founded in 1978 by John E. Shekell, the company started as a small heating and air conditioning operation with one van. He subsequently grew the business to include plumbing and electrical services. In the '80s, John Shekell took a significant step by acquiring the service center from George Koch Sons. This move established Shekell as the leading HVAC service company in the Tri-State region. From service and new installations, Shekell ventured into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. Shekell expanded further in 2000 by acquiring WSC Associates, a distinguished engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. The acquisition allowed Shekell to enhance its design capabilities, establishing a strong presence in the region. In retrospect, John Shekell believes the achievements of J.E. Shekell, Inc. stem from loyal customers, devoted employees, comprehensive training, and a commitment to safety.

An Evansville native, Kevin graduated from Reitz High School in 1988. Kevin started working at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. Following eight years as a service technician, he obtained an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After serving as a technician, he shifted to residential HVAC sales. Kevin subsequently took on roles as a commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager. At Oakland City University, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

Kevin has been married for 16 years and has two children. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. In January 2009, he was named President of J.E. Shekell.
