In the late 1990s - Commercial Service had more than thirty dedicated staff handling large-scale heating and cooling projects throughout Bloomington and the surrounding area, and established itself as one of the largest Residential Trane Dealers in the state of Indiana.
In 2012 - Commercial Service collaborated with R&S Plumbing to offer residential and commercial plumbing. R&S Plumbing, licensed as CO89100209, is a Commercial Service partner.
In 2015 - Mike retired from the company. Our new leader became the Chief Executive Officer. Rink immediately named Adam Sater as the Vice President of Commercial Operations, Charlie VP of Residential Operations & Greg Humphrey as CFO.
Charlie became part of our team over fifteen years ago to grow our residential heating and cooling services. In 1978, John E. Shekell launched the company, starting with just one van focused on heating and air conditioning. The business soon branched out into plumbing and electrical work. During the 1980s, John Shekell propelled the company forward by purchasing George Koch Sons' service center. This move established Shekell as the leading HVAC service company in the Tri-State region. Transitioning from service and installations, Shekell entered the realm of design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell acquired WSC Associates, a well-respected engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. This new subsidiary enhanced Shekell's design capabilities, solidifying its presence in the area. Looking back, John Shekell credits the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to his loyal customers, committed employees, thorough training, and prioritizing safety.

An Evansville native, Kevin graduated from Reitz High School in 1988. His journey at J.E. Shekell Inc. began as a residential HVAC installer. Following eight years as a service technician, he obtained an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After serving as a technician, he shifted to residential HVAC sales. Kevin subsequently took on roles as a commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager. He pursued his education at Oakland City University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

He took on the role of Vice President of Construction in 2004. He completed his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

For 16 years, he has been married and is the proud parent of two children. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. In January 2009, Kevin was appointed President of J.E. Shekell.
