In 2015 - Mike retired from the company. Scott Rink was appointed President and CEO. Scott then designated Adam VP of Commercial Operations, Laughlin as the Vice President of Residential Operations & Humphrey as the Chief Financial Officer.

John E. Shekell established the company in 1978, beginning with a single van for heating and air conditioning services. He subsequently grew the business to include plumbing and electrical services. In the 1980s, John Shekell advanced the company by acquiring the service center of George Koch Sons. This move established Shekell as the leading HVAC service company in the Tri-State region. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell acquired WSC Associates, a well-respected engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. The acquisition allowed Shekell to enhance its design capabilities, establishing a strong presence in the region. Reflecting on the journey, John Shekell attributes the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to loyal customers, dedicated employees, extensive training, and a strong focus on safety.

Kevin, who hails from Evansville, Indiana, completed his education at Reitz High School in 1988. His journey at J.E. Shekell Inc. began as a residential HVAC installer. During his eight years as a service technician, he achieved an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After his time as a service technician, he transitioned to a residential HVAC sales role. He then expanded his expertise to include commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimating and project management. He attended Oakland City University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

Kevin was appointed Vice President of Construction in 2004. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

He has been happily married for 16 years and is a father of two. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. Kevin took on the role of President of J.E. Shekell in January 2009.
