In 1978, John E. Shekell launched the company, starting with just one van focused on heating and air conditioning. He later expanded into plumbing and electrical services. In the '80s, John Shekell took a significant step by acquiring the service center from George Koch Sons. With this purchase, Shekell became the foremost HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. Shekell expanded further in 2000 by acquiring WSC Associates, a distinguished engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. This new subsidiary enhanced Shekell's design capabilities, solidifying its presence in the area. Reflecting on the journey, John Shekell attributes the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to loyal customers, dedicated employees, extensive training, and a strong focus on safety.

Kevin, who hails from Evansville, Indiana, completed his education at Reitz High School in 1988. Kevin started working at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. After eight years as a service technician, he earned an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After serving as a technician, he shifted to residential HVAC sales. Kevin later added commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager to his skill set. At Oakland City University, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. In December 2006, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.

Kevin has been married for 16 years and has two children. He was the president of the Evansville SMACNA chapter between 2004 and 2006. In January 2009, Kevin was appointed President of J.E. Shekell.
