Founded in 1978 by John E. Shekell, the company started as a small heating and air conditioning operation with one van. He subsequently grew the business to include plumbing and electrical services. During the 1980s, John Shekell propelled the company forward by purchasing George Koch Sons' service center. This move established Shekell as the leading HVAC service company in the Tri-State region. From service and new installations, Shekell ventured into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell purchased WSC Associates, a reputable engineering firm based in Evansville, Indiana. The acquisition allowed Shekell to enhance its design capabilities, establishing a strong presence in the region. In retrospect, John Shekell believes the achievements of J.E. Shekell, Inc. stem from loyal customers, devoted employees, comprehensive training, and a commitment to safety.

Kevin, who hails from Evansville, Indiana, completed his education at Reitz High School in 1988. He began his career at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. During his eight years as a service technician, he achieved an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After his time as a service technician, he transitioned to a residential HVAC sales role. He then expanded his expertise to include commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimating and project management. He attended Oakland City University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. He completed his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

Kevin has been married for 16 years and has two children. He was the president of the Evansville SMACNA chapter between 2004 and 2006. Kevin took on the role of President of J.E. Shekell in January 2009.
