John E. Shekell established the company in 1978, beginning with a single van for heating and air conditioning services. He later expanded into plumbing and electrical services. In the 1980s, John Shekell advanced the company by acquiring the service center of George Koch Sons. With this purchase, Shekell became the foremost HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell purchased WSC Associates, a reputable engineering firm based in Evansville, Indiana. This new subsidiary enhanced Shekell's design capabilities, solidifying its presence in the area. In retrospect, John Shekell believes the achievements of J.E. Shekell, Inc. stem from loyal customers, devoted employees, comprehensive training, and a commitment to safety.

Kevin, who hails from Evansville, Indiana, completed his education at Reitz High School in 1988. He began his career at J.E. Shekell Inc. as a residential HVAC installer. During his eight years as a service technician, he achieved an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

After his time as a service technician, he transitioned to a residential HVAC sales role. Kevin later added commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager to his skill set. He attended Oakland City University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

Kevin has been married for 16 years and has two children. From 2004 to 2006, he held the position of president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter. Kevin took on the role of President of J.E. Shekell in January 2009.
