Upon earning his plumbing licenses for St. Louis City and St. Louis County, he was elevated to Job Foreman, taking charge of O.J. Laughlin's significant plumbing projects. After five years as a Field Foreman, he transitioned into the office, where he trained to become both an Estimator and Project Manager. In 2000, Dan was promoted to Vice President, taking responsibility for most commercial, industrial, medical, and healthcare projects. He managed all design/build projects independently. On December 28, 2012, Dan and Bob Laughlin signed a purchase agreement, granting Dan sole ownership of O.J. Laughlin Plumbing Company, Inc.

After World War I, Frank became the sole proprietor and operated from his home on California Street in St. Louis until 1970, when the business relocated to its current site in Webster Groves.
Joe and Bill, Frank's sons, entered the plumbing field, expanding the company’s work to encompass larger commercial jobs and improving service and remodeling.
