My career at Bud's Plumbing began in 1976. I worked alongside U.S. ""Bud"" Grant until 1991, when I purchased the business. I find joy in going to work each day, mentoring new apprentices in the plumbing trade. I find satisfaction in aiding customers with their choices, completing estimates, and tackling the challenges of entrepreneurship. I’ve been married for 37 years and am a proud grandparent of 8. We cherish our time camping, biking, hiking, and strolling with our dog, Maziey.

In 1978, John E. Shekell launched the company, starting with just one van focused on heating and air conditioning. He later expanded into plumbing and electrical services. In the '80s, John Shekell took a significant step by acquiring the service center from George Koch Sons. With this purchase, Shekell became the foremost HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. From service and new installations, Shekell ventured into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell acquired WSC Associates, a well-respected engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. This addition provided Shekell with full design capabilities, reinforcing its position in the local market. In retrospect, John Shekell believes the achievements of J.E. Shekell, Inc. stem from loyal customers, devoted employees, comprehensive training, and a commitment to safety.

Kevin, a native of Evansville, Indiana, graduated from Reitz High School in 1988. His journey at J.E. Shekell Inc. began as a residential HVAC installer. After eight years as a service technician, he earned an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

Following his service technician role, he moved into residential HVAC sales. He then expanded his expertise to include commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimating and project management. He attended Oakland City University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. He completed his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

For 16 years, he has been married and is the proud parent of two children. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. In January 2009, he was named President of J.E. Shekell.

Bayer's Plumbing, Inc. began in 1983 and became incorporated in 1984. The company was launched by Joe and Maria Bayer, along with Joe's brother, Mike. It all began in the home of Joe and Maria. Inventory was kept in the garage, and the office was established in the former toy room of their children.

The year 1985 saw Joe and Maria change their address. While keeping the office at home, they transferred the inventory to a local warehouse. In January 1987, they acquired three additional vans and hired a secretary. In May 1987, the business moved to a 6,000 sq ft facility with a showroom, office, and shop capable of housing eight vans.

In 1991, the company had expanded so much that it outgrew its initial shop. The company constructed a new 30,000 sq ft building and moved to 7944 Bell Oaks Dr in Newburgh, its current location.
