I joined Bud's Plumbing in 1976. I worked alongside U.S. ""Bud"" Grant until 1991, when I purchased the business. I enjoy my daily work, guiding new apprentices in the plumbing field. I take pleasure in assisting customers with their decisions, preparing estimates, and navigating the challenges of business ownership. I’ve been married for 37 years and am a proud grandparent of 8. We cherish our time camping, biking, hiking, and strolling with our dog, Maziey.

John E. Shekell established the company in 1978, beginning with a single van for heating and air conditioning services. He later expanded into plumbing and electrical services. During the 1980s, John Shekell propelled the company forward by purchasing George Koch Sons' service center. This acquisition positioned Shekell as the largest HVAC service provider in the Tri-State area. Shekell expanded from service and installations into design/build projects and plan/specification contracting. In 2000, Shekell acquired WSC Associates, a well-respected engineering firm in Evansville, Indiana. This new subsidiary enhanced Shekell's design capabilities, solidifying its presence in the area. Looking back, John Shekell credits the success of J.E. Shekell, Inc. to his loyal customers, committed employees, thorough training, and prioritizing safety.

Kevin, a native of Evansville, Indiana, graduated from Reitz High School in 1988. His journey at J.E. Shekell Inc. began as a residential HVAC installer. Following eight years as a service technician, he obtained an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Industrial Technology from Ivy Tech.

Following his service technician role, he moved into residential HVAC sales. Kevin subsequently took on roles as a commercial industrial HVAC/sheet metal estimator and project manager. He pursued his education at Oakland City University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management.

In 2004, Kevin became the Vice President of Construction. He finished his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Phoenix in December 2006.

He has been happily married for 16 years and is a father of two. He served as the president of the local Evansville SMACNA chapter from 2004 to 2006. In January 2009, Kevin was appointed President of J.E. Shekell.

Bayer's Plumbing, Inc. began in 1983 and became incorporated in 1984. Joe and Maria Bayer, along with Joe's brother Mike, started the company. Initially, operations took place in Joe and Maria's home. The garage housed the inventory, while the office was arranged in the children's old playroom.

In 1985, Joe and Maria relocated. They maintained the office at home while moving the inventory to a nearby warehouse. In January 1987, they acquired three additional vans and hired a secretary. By May 1987, the company expanded to a 6,000 sq ft showroom, office, and shop that could accommodate eight vans.

By 1991, the business had grown substantially and needed a larger facility. They built a new 30,000 sq ft facility and moved to 7944 Bell Oaks Dr in Newburgh, where they still operate.
