I am in my early forties, and prior to plumbing, I attended at John Burns School of Medicine training to be a medical doctor. I found that the lifestyle—long nights and little rest and no freedom—wasn't the life I wanted, so I decided to leave. I started working at a local plumbing company.

There, I worked on clearing drains, hydrojetting, and other plumbing tasks. I appreciated the daily work: seeing the island, connecting with people, and helping people right away. Fixing problems and making people happy was satisfying. I earned my journeyman license.
