The company was launched on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The small business started with four employees, including Glad and Sid, focusing on counter sales and delivery.
On February 13, 1976, PDI became an authorized distributor for American Standard. This collaboration marked a turning point for PDI. With the American Standard line, we proved our competitiveness in the plumbing sector. As a result, we were able to bring in other significant plumbing lines such as A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.
With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. Our goal was to keep our presence near our original location in Lawrenceville. A piece of land was secured in an industrial park off Collins Hill Road, ensuring easy access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
