The company was launched on June 1, 1973, by Gladston Mealor and his son, Sidney, at 166 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. Initially, the business had four staff members, including Glad and Sid, and specialized in counter sales and delivery.
On February 13, 1976, we became a distributor for American Standard. This collaboration marked a turning point for PDI. This line helped us demonstrate our strength in the plumbing industry. This achievement enabled us to acquire other prominent plumbing brands, including A.O. Smith water heaters and Aqua Glass bath fixtures.
With PDI's growth, the need for a bigger facility became apparent. We wanted to stay connected to our roots in Lawrenceville. We obtained a property in a developing industrial park off Collins Hill Road, which offered convenient access to Georgia Highway 316. From 1984 to 2006, PDI's Corporate Headquarters were situated at 20 Collins Hill Road, but once again, to accommodate growth, we needed to move.
