In the early 1960s, Don Bennett began his career at Athens Plumbing under the guidance of his father, Curtis, and he and his brother Richard assumed control of the company in 1980. Don, the sole proprietor of this 70-year-old local company, has his two sons working with him: Tap, a master plumber boasting 19 years of expertise, and Jason, who handles office duties. His spouse, Libby, manages the office at Athens Plumbing. He also has two other children, one of whom is former UGA Bulldog place-kicker Billy Bennett, and a daughter who is not currently involved in the business.

Chuck Carson established Carson Plumbing in 1982. Initially, it operated from his home, with his wonderful wife Penny handling much of the administrative tasks at the kitchen table. Things escalated for Chuck, and he soon found himself hiring staff and buying more trucks and gear as needed. As the business expanded, Mr. Carson purchased the property where Carson Plumbing now resides at 259 Wynburn Ave in Athens.

The old wooden building was lost to a lightning fire in 1989, leading to the erection of a new facility. Since that time, the company has been based in this new building. Chuck Carson passed the reins of his successful business to his sons, Josh and Pete Carson, in February 2008. Josh and Pete have dedicated themselves to preserving the honest and friendly business practices their father modeled for them. Currently, Carson Plumbing is overseen by Mike McCain, a dedicated team member since 1986.
