Our head plumber Richard Hume started Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. in 2008 with some tools and containers of fittings from the back of his truck. Like any successful entrepreneur, he devoted himself day and night, distributing flyers to gain new customers and leads. Despite a tough downturn in 2009, Pro-Tec Plumbing endured; each year, we expanded our capabilities by hiring new team members, vehicles, and tools to the company. Having steadily grown over the years, Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. has changed -- we are now Pro-Tec Plumbing, Water & Gas, a complete water system organization. What originated as a solo operation is now a successful company with over 50 team members. Though we continue to grow, Rick's original promise remains the cornerstone of Pro-Tec: create a business centered on hard work and integrity and ensure the quality of work we would want in our own properties.

Brothers Richard (Rick) and Brandon Hume were brought up in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they lived until the early 2000s.

Brandon relocated to Florida in 2004 to attend Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was involved in golf and majored in finance. Meanwhile, Rick nurtured a increasing passion for plumbing; he earned his license as a Master Plumber in 2008 and initiated what would evolve into Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc.

After finishing his degree, Brandon assisted in hand-digging Rick's first residential job in 2009. He decided to join his brother full-time as the company's vice president in 2011, managing the business side of the operation.
