At first, he worked on construction jobs. But, after surviving the recession, he understood that working for contractors didn't provide flexibility over his work processes as he desired.

By 2012, Verhoff redirected his focus to only home services, at first partnering with a friend on a venture that had offices in Florida and two other states. After he acquired his friend on the Florida part of the business in 2016, he required a fresh identity and identity. This led to the creation of Plumbing & Cooling Nerds came to life.
