Bland's brother started the business in 1983 after gaining experience with the competition for many years. We have been working to keep the company as a tight-knit enterprise, but after he died, we have had to look outside of the kin.

Our lead plumber Richard Hume launched Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. in 2008 with a few tools and kits of fittings from the back of his pickup truck. Like any successful entrepreneur, he dedicated himself day and night, distributing flyers to gain new customers and contacts. Despite a tough downturn in 2009, Pro-Tec Plumbing endured; each year, we increased our offerings by hiring new team members, trucks, and tools to the company. Having consistently grown over the years, Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. has transformed -- we are now Pro-Tec Plumbing, Water & Gas, a comprehensive water system company. What began as a single-person operation is now a successful company with over 50 employees. Though we continue to grow, Rick's original commitment remains the cornerstone of Pro-Tec: build a business centered on hard work and transparency and ensure the quality of work we would expect in our own homes.

Brothers Richard (Rick) and Brandon Hume were raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they grew up until the early 2000s.

Brandon relocated to Florida in 2004 to enroll in Florida Gulf Coast University, where he competed in golf and focused in finance. Meanwhile, Rick nurtured a increasing passion for plumbing; he earned his license as a Master Plumber in 2008 and initiated what would become Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc.

After completing his degree, Brandon helped in excavating Rick's first residential home in 2009. He opted to partner with his brother permanently as the company's vice president in 2011, overseeing the operations side of the enterprise.
