Bland's brother started the operation in the year 1983 after gaining experience with Culligan for many years. We have been trying to keep the company as a family-run operation, but after he died, we have had to expand outside of the kin.

Our Master Plumber Richard Hume started Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. in 2008 with some tools and containers of fittings from the back of his pickup truck. Like any successful entrepreneur, he committed himself day and night, passing out flyers to gain new customers and connections. Despite a difficult downturn in 2009, Pro-Tec Plumbing persevered; each year, we increased our capabilities by adding new staff, trucks, and assets to the company. Having consistently grown over the years, Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc. has changed -- we are now Pro-Tec Plumbing, Water & Gas, a full-service water system organization. What started as a one-man operation is now a thriving company with over 50 team members. Though we continue to grow, Rick's original promise remains the cornerstone of Pro-Tec: create a business centered on dedication and honesty and ensure the quality of work we would want in our own houses.

Brothers Richard (Rick) and Brandon Hume were raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they resided until the early 2000s.

Brandon moved to Florida in 2004 to attend Florida Gulf Coast University, where he competed in golf and studied in finance. Meanwhile, Rick developed a growing passion for plumbing; he earned his license as a Master Plumber in 2008 and launched what would evolve into Pro-Tec Plumbing, Inc.

After finishing his degree, Brandon assisted in digging Rick's first residential home in 2009. He opted to partner with his brother full-time as the company's vice president in 2011, managing the office side of the company.
