Michael's great great grandfather William S. ""Snooky"" Phillips established ""Miami Plumbing and Heating"" in 1899 in Miami, Florida. His parent was also construction & primitive plumbing systems in the mid to late 19th century. Although little more is factually known about him aside from that, family history claims he worked in construction and plumbing, employed by railroad tycoon Henry Flagler. He is regarded as one of the first plumbing contractors in Florida to be granted a plumbing contractor's license by Dade County, due to his parent's reported affiliation with Henry Flagler & the fact that at that time there was minimal regulation or plumbing code at any level of government existed. In those days the contractor's licensing took place at the county level and not at the state level as it currently is. For Michael's family, the term ""Grandfathered In"" has a real significance.
