My career as a general contractor began in 2000. My status as a service-disabled veteran was an asset until 2010. Following a five-year hiatus in Maryland, I came back to Sacramento. I still provide my services as a general contractor and home improvement professional. In the future, I may pursue recertification as a service-disabled veteran. Currently, I market my company as veteran-owned, showcasing my military service from 1972 to 1996. With experience at state, federal, and local levels in commercial and residential projects, I take pride in fulfilling homeowners' requirements and moving seamlessly from one small project to another. I expect this process to remain consistent for the foreseeable future.
I became self-employed after serving as a soldier in the Army. Some veterans choose to pursue other jobs that offer more stability, like a steady paycheck or an additional pension after another 15 or 20 years. I tried that route, but it didn't suit me. My sense of purpose in serving a greater cause was achieved during my active duty. Once you embrace true leadership, you understand the importance of guiding others based on a shared belief in unity. It was challenging to accept the complacency of those who don't recognize, value, or appreciate selfless service. Currently, I value my connections with customers and the modest contributions I can make to meet their expectations over a conventional job. Retiring as a senior NCO, prioritizing the needs of others was standard practice. Like before, I will persist in providing service where it truly matters in the lives of others.
