In March 2008, we founded Santa Cruz Green Builders, focusing on building homes and workspaces that are better for the environment and their occupants.

Spencer Keenan earned his degree in Industrial Design from San Francisco State. His education equipped him to take designs from concept to completion and to devise solutions for challenges that arise during the process. These skills, along with the beauty of California's central coast and his desire to create, inspired him to enter the field of green building in Santa Cruz.

Taylor, co-owner, grew up on Kauai and has had a lifelong passion for building. When he was just 8, he constructed his first building, a tree fort crafted from salvaged wood, complete with a drawbridge, bedroom, screened porch, and garage. Following his graduation from UCSC with a politics degree, Taylor pursued his building interests by working for a general contractor in Santa Cruz. He became increasingly inspired and motivated by green building practices. Now, as a Certified Green Building Professional, Taylor incorporates his knowledge and skills into all our projects.
