Terry was able to come out the same afternoon I called right before Memorial Day weekend after a tenant notified me of a leak coming from the ceiling in the bathroom. What I thought was going to be a quick wax seal fix turned out to be much more. The rear of the toilet bowl was cracked which meant I needed a new toilet. I agreed to purchase a toilet of my choosing myself and Terry would come back the next day to install it. The next day during the toilet install, it was discovered that the lead collar in my 100 year old pipes were cracked and disintegrating. Terry pulled out his tools and like a renaissance blacksmith, expertly poured a new collar and the new toilet was ready to install. A few issues arose that were out of Terry's control but when he starts a job, he finishes it. I had a working toilet again and a happy tenant before the end of Memorial Day weekend was over. Once finished with everything, Terry goes out of his way to clean the surrounding areas where he had been working which is a definite plus! Terry also is very knowledgeable about the prices charged by other plumbers and I found that his prices are fairer than most!

Terry & Tim are trustworthy and true to their word. I called on Monday to get an estimate and by lunch on Tuesday, my bathroom sinks were 110%!!
Tim not only was there early to give me a no-charge estimate but he walked me through the issue, recommended I buy the hardware to save a few bucks, and gave me a very fair price for the labor. So fair, I had him fix a both sinks, just in case.
Tim actually stopped at the Home Depot to pick up the parts I purchased online and completed the install in under 2 hours. Great Service. Great work.

Was very pleased with the service from initial phone call to completion. Called for an emergency fix of a clogged kitchen sink in a tenant's apartment. Plumber was there a few hours later and explained everything that needed to be done to fix. He cleaned up after himself and was done quickly. I would definitely call them again for plumbing work!

Had a pipe rupture underneath our kitchen sink which rendered the sink unusable.

Called YHP and they scheduled someone to be at our place 2 hours later. I texted picture of the rupture to YHP and that helped them get all the parts they needed before they git to our place.

The gentleman who did the actual work was professional, courteous and got right to work. He was done in about 20 minutes. The bill was not insubstantial but that's part of the price you pay when you can't do this work yourself and its an emergency.

Terry was amazing this past weekend and came through under terrible time pressures. He offered to come out on a Sunday evening to help with a plumbing back up issue right after moving in to this Wicker Park condo. Terry went above and beyond to get the job done and his communication was excellent in terms of planning and competing the work to be done. His communication approach really distinguishes him from other service providers. Would highly recommend him. Yelp was a huge help in finding Terry!

We realized our basement was flooded when we returned home at 9pm...in the midst of trying to get our kids to bed. A friend recommended Your Helpful Plumber and their recommendation was great. Terry called us back right away and had someone out to help us within 20 minutes. On his way, Vince (the plumber) called us to gather info about what was going on. He stopped by Home Depot in the way to get what he needed so he didn't have to leave and come back. Vince was great. He worked quickly, explained what he was doing, step by step, and fixes the problem. I also loved that he was trying to not make too much noise so he wouldn't wake our kids. Both Terry and Vince followed up the next day. Other people in our building have used them since then and also had good results. I highly recommend Your Friendly Plumber. They are efficient, dependable, and affordable.

FANTASTIC JOB. I highly recommend Terry for any plumbing problem.

We recently came home from a trip to find that the pipes had frozen. I called Your Helpful Plumber and Terry answered immediately. He gave me a VERY reasonable price and sent 2 people out within a few hours. Unfortunately, this first crew tracked mud through the house and did not leave the bathroom in the best condition. Terry had them come back, clean up, and make sure I was happy. The problem had not been solved tho (it was tricky), so Terry came himself the following day. He worked tirelessly for 3 days, never gave up, and finally found the root of the problem. It wasn't easy, and many other people would have given up or charged more. He never charged a penny more than original price. He worked around my schedule, making it convenient for me.

Overall, Terry is professional, honest, understanding, and does everything he can to be sure you are happy with the job.

Recently had a plumbing issue with a tenant in a garden unit. Called a few businesses in the area, and Terry was the first person I could legitimately get a hold of. Not a secretary or a dispatch service, someone that could help me with what I needed that day. He and his crew were helpful, responsive, and communicative throughout. We weren't entirely sure what the issue was, and they were able to give me sound, unbiased advice on the best way to resolve my problem. Great experience with a local company, that can be there if you're in a pinch,

Quick and dirty summary: responsive, quick, professional, and fairly priced. Terry will definitely be the first call I make in the future if I have another plumbing issue.

On a recent Saturday we had the unpleasant surprise of a fair amount of water in our basement bedroom. We thought we figured out that the source of the water was a backed up sump pump. Called Your Helpful Plumber and Terry answered on the first ring. He was professional on the phone and provided an estimate for various repairs associated with the sump pump.

Terry was able to be on site within 30 minutes and quickly gave us the bad news that the issue was not a sump pump but rather a more complicated (and serious) sewage ejector pump. Terry quickly took apart the system to figure out if the pump needed to be replaced or just repaired. I appreciated their efforts to keep a dirty job as clean as possible by spreading a tarp out on their work area.

Unfortunately, the pump could not be repaired and had to be replaced - but I also appreciated Terry allowing me to see for myself that the pump needed to be replaced. Terry was also very professional about providing us with an estimate for the work before he took the whole system apart. I thought the estimate was a fair price - although I did not do any comparison shopping and the work certainly had to be done.

Terry quickly went to buy the replacement pump and then returned and completed the task. Terry even went through the effort of cleaning the area thoroughly when the job was finished. After the work was done, Terry also agreed to give me a discount from Yelp that I had not asked about - which was much appreciated as the repair was not inexpensive (although, again, I think the price was fair).

Terry provides a four year guarantee on parts and labor and even called the next day to confirm that the system was still functioning correctly. Great service all around.

The only minor blemish I'd give them is that they tracked a bit of dirt onto our carpet - but I don't think you can expect anyone to be perfect, especially with all the snow and ice outside and the need to perform such a dirty job.
