T. C.LET'S SAY IT TOGETHER: PRICE GOUGING?
We Had a mini split two zone system installed in our home by a certified electrician. We called YMC to come and do a start-up for us. The very nicest of service people showed up to look over the system and complimented the wonderful job that had been done installing it. He then proceeded to explain to us that since we were new customers we could either sign up for the annual warranty service,at almost $175 dollars per year spring and fall, and that would reduce today's call down to $650. If we chose not to be part of their annual warranty program the service call and start up would cost over $750?? Again, a very nice technician, to whom we sent on his way with a thank you, and our eyes bulging out of our heads and our jaws dropped to the floor!
Prior to our calling YMC we called another Company for exactly the same service but had to wait because they were booked up until the middle of June. The dispatcher asked if we would like to be placed on the list in case there was a cancellation and that would speed up our appointment time which we did. We received a call less than a week later and the very nicest technician showed up, checked out the system, adjusted everything and made sure everything was in ordering less than an hour, and charged us $119 for the complete start-up and set up service. He was professional friendly and efficient and need I say FAIRLY PRICED??? YMC , you ought to be ashamed of yourself for PRICE GOUGING the customers you service in the Treasure Valley. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever recommend your company to anyone. And if it was a cold day in hell you'd probably charge me over $750 to heat it up again!!
I don't recommend YMC. If I could give them less stars I would. My A/C quit working a couple of weeks ago and I called YMC, which came highly recommended by several people. They sent a tech out who, without using any equipment to check anything, told me my 21 year old A/C unit was completely out of Freon, there was a crack in the coil (because usually that's where they are leaking from), and that the galvanized tubes from the furnace to the house would need to be replaced as it was out of code. He also said all of the pipes under the house from the garage to the A/C unit would need to be replaced. He provided an estimate of a new A/C and heating system that was close to $9,500 for a 1,800 sq ft home. This is $4,500 more than two other estimates that I received.
I had a different HVAC company come out later that day - they checked and put pressure gages on the A/C unit, filled it with a couple lbs. of Freon, checked the pressure again, checked for leaks in all of the pipes and the coil - found none. They also turned the heat on and checked the condition of the unit, it worked fine and checked for CO2 in the house. Yet another company came out the next day and provided a similar quote ($4,500 less than YMC!). My A/C unit has worked perfectly now for 2 months. I paid $127 in repairs where YMC would have had me pay $9,500+ for a new unit.
I also called the YMC manager and spoke to her about what had happened. She was very nice and seemed to understand and empathize with the situation. She referred me to the operations manager who, when he called me back, could do nothing but make excuses for his 'experienced' tech. Not customer focused at all. It was so frustrating I had to end the call.
I feel the YMC tech didn't do his job and took advantage of a woman, thinking I would take his diagnostic and overly priced quote at face value. I will never do business with this company again.
We are highly disappointed with this company, we have had them doing all our maintenance for the last 18 years, last Tuesday are A/C unit blows up. We called and they sent their service guy out right away and he confirmed that the unit was a goner. He told us that they would prepare a quote to replace this unit by that afternoon or first thing Wednesday morning. Come Wednesday afternoon I called them since I had not heard from them yet, and was rudely told that they were busy and would let us know when they get to it. I called another company and they were here and quoted us right on the spot that afternoon. guess what it is now Friday and we have yet to get a phone call from YMC, I did make a call and called their competition and gave them the business, they will also get all of service work from now on also - Good Bye YMC!
Do not recommend this company for any services. I called to schedule to have service in the early morning and at the end of the day they said they cannot do it on that day. The lady scheduler did not gave me a clue that she might not be possible that day and could be tomorrow. But at the end of the day, when I even told they can come anytime even 9 pm, the service manage who had no customer service threaten me that he cannot confirm the service can be done that day. I have done more 20 k business with this company and this manager does not cure about it. Why would he? He would if he was a owner. I am done with them.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Needed a system check for a home sale--all systems were working perfectly. The totally rude and obnoxious YMC rep Mike Gross came in & said I had all sorts of problems. Barged in many times and made my dogs want to chew his legs off. I will NEVER use or recommend YMC again! Stay away from this company! DO NOT USE THEM EVER!!
Don't waste your time with YMC if you have a cabin in McCall. They showed up 2 1/2 hours late with my first pre-set appointment. On top of it, they have a new oil furnace tech... they send a really nice guy but he literally had no clue about my oil furnace. I rescheduled for 3 weeks and they sent a guy out of Boise that was to be there between 9:00 am and 10:00 a.m.
I drove up from Boise to meet the service tech. I wait.... I then receive a phone call 9:30 am that morning he was just leaving the shop and on his way to McCall. I told him not to come I went with one of their competitors in McCall, because they were so ill prepared.
What a bust for me and YMC

to sevice our furnace blower motor. He determined the furnace heat
exchanger had a crack with his magic eyes--he didn't even need
a Manometer, combustion analyzer, or static pressure gauage.
He gave us a quote for about $9K to replace the furnace/air conditioner
unit.
He also put our system into a safe-condition by turning off the
electricity to the unit and placing the safety gas switch into off
position.
He alse virtually sabotaged the unit by disconnecting the igniter and
the pressure sensor hose, not telling us, the senior citizen owners,
how he was leaving our home so we could peacifully freeze to death
if we couldn't pay the ransom.
We managed to restore the system, but we still need to fix the blower
motor, if we can find an honest repair man.
PS the furnace has no roll-back and it passes the candle test. However,
We don't have access to manometers, combustion analyzer, etc. to
properly test for cracks in the heat exchanger. Also our current
carbon monoxide detectors have not sensed any of the poisonous gas.
If I could give less stars as a rating I would. First off they said our apt would be between 12-3 and that they would call and let us know when they were a half hour out. We called at 1:30 to find out if we could get s better estimate of time for their arrival and was told we were next. The technician Marty finally arrived at 4pm. No call, nothing to explain he would be late or that he was on his way. When we asked how much it would be to install a kitchen faucet we were told $276 and it would take at least 2 hrs to install. Having waited all day for him to show up we decided not to proceed. Marty then said ""It's ok, I have already put in my 9 hours today!"" Then he argued with us and said that the company doesn't give estimated times of arrival, even though we were told by 3pm at least twice. Considering he was late and extremely expensive I will never recommend this company to anyone and nor will I ever call them again!
My son later in the week installed the faucet in less than 40 minutes, and he doesn't do this professionally.
Pam K.I had been looking for someone to make a sign for my sons' home gym to no avail. I found YMC through a recommendation and I couldn't be more thrilled with my fabulous experience with them! I met with Joe and his partner, can't remember his name but I'll make sure to get it. These guys are creative, engaging, smart, and excited to be involved in the creative process. They came up with ideas to make this sign even better than I was thinking! There is some creative genius going on there! The lovely lady at the front desk couldn't be sweeter! This is a Chritmas present for my son, and although it's a very small job for them, they made it seem like it was their priority! I pick up my sign tomorrow and know it will be creative and perfect!! Thanks guys!!
They are VERY expensive and did NOT even fix the problem. Good luck complaining. TERRIBLE people working there! Find another company to do your plumbing work!
