Update - had need to call on Woodfin again when my hot water heater failed and my home warranty company failed to replace it after a week. Woodfin came to look at it the same day I called and replaced it the following morning. Cannot stress enough how awesome Woodfin is - they are my absolute favorite! They even pet my insanely friendly dog. :-)

Horrible experience. Requested existing gas line be extended to new kitchen stove and back deck for grilling. I sent in the signed contract several weeks in advance requesting an install date that coincided with the time I had requested off. The day of installation no one showed up. After calling them, I learned there had been some ""scheduling issues"". Finally rescheduled for several weeks later and they installed the gas line. An hour after the gas people left, the electricians show up ready to install my new tankless water heater. I don't own a tankless water heater, nor did I ever discuss any such thing with them. Obviously their coordination is a bit lacking. After sorting through that mess, they changed out the electrical box, but never hooked up the wiring for the downdraft. The next day the gas line inspector shows up then leaves without approving anything. After calling Woodfin yet again, I learned the permit was not filled out properly, so it was unable to be approved. I also asked them who was going to be connecting the ductwork. They told me they don't do that work. Is this Woodfin ""your whole home team"" that installs HVAC? How do they not do ductwork? Any why did their salesman tell me they did? I have numerous e-mails detailing that exact conversation. Needless to say, here I am a week after the initial gas installation and still no working stove and have not received a call from Woodfin. The process is supposed to take 3 days in total. Is it still unclear when this project will actually be finished. Never again.

First time writing review but since the Contact Us function on the Woodfin website only allows 250 charterers I figured I will post here instead.

I've used Woodfin once to repair the HVAC for my house and had a great experience. Naturally, I recommended Woodfin to my friend when the AC at one of her rental properties wasn't working. She was traveling for work and asked me to help her out. I didn't mind helping since I understand the hassle of having to deal with HVAC or other house related issues. I typically don't get off of work till 4:30pm so she called Woodfin and scheduled the latest appointment possible so I don't have to miss too much of work. She called on Thursday and Woodfin called back the next morning and confirmed appointment after 4:00pm on Friday. Around 1:00pm I got a call from Woodfin asking me if they could come early since they have a canceled appointment. I told them I am at work and have a meeting so I couldn't meet them early. The scheduler was very understanding and appointment was kept at after 4:00pm. So I left work early and rushed to my friend's house so I wouldn't be late. Got there at 3:55pm and met with the service tech Jeff F. I could tell he didn't want to be there on a Friday afternoon and has a bit of an attitude. He went outside to look at the AC condenser so I followed him to see if he needed anything. When he saw me, he said ""what do you need?"" in a very snarky way. Was I not allowed to see what he was doing?!?! The last service tech I had with Woodfin explained everything as he was doing/testing it. At no point during the appointment Jeff F. explained what he did or what he was doing to me.

So after a little while, he told me the AC condenser was dirty and clogged on one side. When I asked him what was causing the condenser to be clogged on one side, he literally scoff out loud. I tried to be nice and agreed to have him cleaned the unit for $191 just so he could just get it done and be on his way. The only good thing about him is that he was honest about not needing to get an overpriced thermostat from Woodfin. He told me he has one in his truck for $300 but I could go to Lowe's to get a much cheaper one. Went to Lowe's this weekend, bought a thermostat for under $30 and replaced it in less than 30 mins.

One last thing, Jeff didn't wear shoe covers when going in and out of the house like my last service tech did so there was dirt all over the living room and upstairs bedroom/hallway.

Overall not a pleasant experience. Not sure if he was having a bad day, didn't want to work late on a Friday afternoon or something else. Please don't force your employees to work when they don't want to and spare both the employee and customer from an unpleasant experience. Woodfin has lost me forever as a customer. And next time my friends or coworkers ask me about HVAC companies I will give them my honest opinion about Woodfin.

Although the actual technician and work done was great, they WAY over price the part and service! They almost charged double for the part and the service charge was $800 for about half an hour of work...that's crazy! Thankfully they were willing to negotiate the price some but it was still about $350 more than competitors. It's too bad you have to do your own research on parts and then negotiate to get a fair price.

Called and requested a leak trace after my heat pump started behaving like it was low on Freon. They sent a tech over, he looked at my system and told me I probably have a leak somewhere and that I should get a leak trace done... That cost me $100.The tech was friendly and communicative but there was obviously a breakdown in communication somewhere in their system. I mentioned my complaint to several people and was never offered any compensation. Wasn't willing to spend anymore with them after that experience.

No issues with the toilet repair that they performed three years ago.

However, they refuse to stop sending me junk mail. Even after Woodfin followed up my previous three-star review, they still are sending me junk mail four months later.

I'm spending a great deal of money (11,000.00), and paying cash (check, actually), having a propane powered whole-home generator installed. Yesterday, the generator itself was installed, and the ditch dug in my backyard for the line from the propane tank to both the generator and my fireplace. Today, I woke up under the weather - it's 1:45 and I'm still in my pj's and robe. The Woodfin team arrived at around 8:30 AM, and began installing the tank without having the courtesy to check in with me - and I had questions. And so now, the Woodfin guys are gone, the tank is out there, but the ditch is still there, and nobody ever told me when things were going to be finished. I had to call both the salesman and the Woodfin office to learn that it might take another 10 working days for inspections and final work to be completed! This kind of tortoise-like installation schedule was not made clear to me by the Woodfin salesman back in October of 2018, when I signed the sales contract. My problem with Woodfin is lack of communication - I don't like it when contractors arrive at my house and do not check-in with me, and then leave without explaining to me what they've accomplished, like they did today. And, I don't appreciate that such a long installation process was not made clear to me by the salesman way back in October.

Here is an update to my review, as of 2/10/19 - last night, the local temp here was down to 21 degrees, and my heat stopped working. The interior temp of my house got down to 64 degrees. When I called my HVAC folks, James River Air, they came out and said they couldn't fix it because:

""Found heat pump working properly. Woodfin installed new generator and disconnected strip heat inside air handling unit. Didn't hook back up. Customer called Woodfin. Collected $99 by check, # 3110.""

I've currently got Woodfin at my house to fix the problem. And I think they should reimburse me the money that I had to pay James River Air to diagnose the problem! Nobody at Woodfin ever told me that by them installing a whole-house generator, my heat wouldn't work because of it!!!

Had an issue with my air conditioning where the thermostat had just completely shut off and nothing I tried would make it turn back on. Called Woodfin and they were able to set me up with someone to come and check it out that same day. But as these kinds of things usually go, I had no idea when to actually expect them and to simply wait for the 15 minute courtesy phone call telling me they were on their way.

James was very friendly. He came in and diagnosed the problem within a couple minutes. All together the job took less than 45 minutes. He assured me that the issue shouldn't arise again. The only downside to all this is what it cost me. I'm not sure how the price compares to other companies but they charged me a 99 dollar diagnostic fee and then 80 dollars to clean the drain (which was the problem). A little hefty in my opinion but this may just be the norm. Overall content with the service.

I was contacted by Woodfin after my Yelp review was posted. They agreed I was due a refund and I have since received it. They are a responsible company after all.

Removed our old systems and installed new. Excellent work and couldn't be happier with them. No hidden costs, no pressure, we needed our systems replaced as they were in very bad shape, almost burned the house down at one point.

The installers even offered to spread the 7 stone I bought for the heat pumps to sit on. As far as the attic install the only thing I would have asked different is the drain hose just barely gets in the way of the filter media door but still, not a big deal.

As far as the subfloor air handler location, they had to cut a section of drain pipe to get it installed and they patched it up and all is good.

Highly recommend them and when we build our home they will be doing the install for sure.
