Originally had Woodfin check out my two heat pumps (AC). Within the next month both capacitors went out and both units were found to be 3+ lbs low on freon. While I understand capacitors go out from time to time the low freon should have been caught during the initial service call.

Great for propane, plumbing prices / quote process was awful.

Nice things first, their propane tank gas prices and service are excellent, and superior in every way to AmeriGas as far as I can tell. No complaints, easy billing, even the tank rental is included if you buy enough propane.

Plumbing was worse. It took a call to the manager to get them to honor the prices on the estimate for installing a new toilet. I was given an estimate on a service call (which has its own fee). When I only wanted some work done, I was told the prices included some sort of bundle discount which was never told to me originally. But step back - they wanted $117 (as part of the supposed bundle!) just to replace a toilet handle. That's a $10 part and what half an hour of labor? I had them install a different toilet (which I wonder how necessary it was) and the leaky shutoff valve (which was the reason for the call) but I don't think I'd use them for plumbing again.

Maybe I just don't understand plumbing business models but I feel like there should be a labor charge, and a part charge - and those should both be reasonable and itemized. Anyway, I didn't even call them for my latest toilet fix (new flapper and fill valve); DIY for a $10 amazon part and about 45 minutes of work.

OUTRAGEOUS FEES for the work performed. In the past month they've charged me just shy of $600 to clear two AC condensation lines. First visit 20 minutes, second visit 10 minutes. I kid you not.

Update to previous post - I was contacted by the manager the day after my post and the problem mentioned was satisfactorily resolved.

Had a problem with the heating on my top floor. I had called another company, James River Air Conditioning Company, and was quoted over $1,000 to fix it. Called Woodfin for a second opinion and they fixed it for $250. Everything is working perfectly now.

Sam was the person who helped us. He was very kind, professional, and quick.

Thank you for being honest, professional, and efficient! Will use again if any other problems arise.

do not let them convince you that your new hvac is covered under a 10 year warranty when you purchase. it is not!!!! they end up sending you a bill for $200 per year for the warranty and on top of that, still charge you a $100 to come out.

Update - had need to call on Woodfin again when my hot water heater failed and my home warranty company failed to replace it after a week. Woodfin came to look at it the same day I called and replaced it the following morning. Cannot stress enough how awesome Woodfin is - they are my absolute favorite! They even pet my insanely friendly dog. :-)

Horrible experience. Requested existing gas line be extended to new kitchen stove and back deck for grilling. I sent in the signed contract several weeks in advance requesting an install date that coincided with the time I had requested off. The day of installation no one showed up. After calling them, I learned there had been some ""scheduling issues"". Finally rescheduled for several weeks later and they installed the gas line. An hour after the gas people left, the electricians show up ready to install my new tankless water heater. I don't own a tankless water heater, nor did I ever discuss any such thing with them. Obviously their coordination is a bit lacking. After sorting through that mess, they changed out the electrical box, but never hooked up the wiring for the downdraft. The next day the gas line inspector shows up then leaves without approving anything. After calling Woodfin yet again, I learned the permit was not filled out properly, so it was unable to be approved. I also asked them who was going to be connecting the ductwork. They told me they don't do that work. Is this Woodfin ""your whole home team"" that installs HVAC? How do they not do ductwork? Any why did their salesman tell me they did? I have numerous e-mails detailing that exact conversation. Needless to say, here I am a week after the initial gas installation and still no working stove and have not received a call from Woodfin. The process is supposed to take 3 days in total. Is it still unclear when this project will actually be finished. Never again.

First time writing review but since the Contact Us function on the Woodfin website only allows 250 charterers I figured I will post here instead.

I've used Woodfin once to repair the HVAC for my house and had a great experience. Naturally, I recommended Woodfin to my friend when the AC at one of her rental properties wasn't working. She was traveling for work and asked me to help her out. I didn't mind helping since I understand the hassle of having to deal with HVAC or other house related issues. I typically don't get off of work till 4:30pm so she called Woodfin and scheduled the latest appointment possible so I don't have to miss too much of work. She called on Thursday and Woodfin called back the next morning and confirmed appointment after 4:00pm on Friday. Around 1:00pm I got a call from Woodfin asking me if they could come early since they have a canceled appointment. I told them I am at work and have a meeting so I couldn't meet them early. The scheduler was very understanding and appointment was kept at after 4:00pm. So I left work early and rushed to my friend's house so I wouldn't be late. Got there at 3:55pm and met with the service tech Jeff F. I could tell he didn't want to be there on a Friday afternoon and has a bit of an attitude. He went outside to look at the AC condenser so I followed him to see if he needed anything. When he saw me, he said ""what do you need?"" in a very snarky way. Was I not allowed to see what he was doing?!?! The last service tech I had with Woodfin explained everything as he was doing/testing it. At no point during the appointment Jeff F. explained what he did or what he was doing to me.

So after a little while, he told me the AC condenser was dirty and clogged on one side. When I asked him what was causing the condenser to be clogged on one side, he literally scoff out loud. I tried to be nice and agreed to have him cleaned the unit for $191 just so he could just get it done and be on his way. The only good thing about him is that he was honest about not needing to get an overpriced thermostat from Woodfin. He told me he has one in his truck for $300 but I could go to Lowe's to get a much cheaper one. Went to Lowe's this weekend, bought a thermostat for under $30 and replaced it in less than 30 mins.

One last thing, Jeff didn't wear shoe covers when going in and out of the house like my last service tech did so there was dirt all over the living room and upstairs bedroom/hallway.

Overall not a pleasant experience. Not sure if he was having a bad day, didn't want to work late on a Friday afternoon or something else. Please don't force your employees to work when they don't want to and spare both the employee and customer from an unpleasant experience. Woodfin has lost me forever as a customer. And next time my friends or coworkers ask me about HVAC companies I will give them my honest opinion about Woodfin.

Although the actual technician and work done was great, they WAY over price the part and service! They almost charged double for the part and the service charge was $800 for about half an hour of work...that's crazy! Thankfully they were willing to negotiate the price some but it was still about $350 more than competitors. It's too bad you have to do your own research on parts and then negotiate to get a fair price.
