Wolfer's Home Services
Company Overview
Plumbing and water quality solutions. Authorized Lennox dealer offering a 110% satisfaction guarantee.
Wolfer's Home Services began its journey in 1901. The founder, Edwin Wolfer, launched the business in Anita, Iowa, near the Lennox factory. Following his marriage, Edwin moved the operation to Oregon in 1915. Wolfer's proudly stands as one of Woodburn's oldest enterprises, and the second oldest Lennox dealership in the nation.
Wolfer's has witnessed significant transformations in the heating and cooling industry. At the time of its inception, central heating was a rarity. They observed the shift from coal and sawdust burners to oil heat, and later to gas and heat pumps. The mid-1960s marked the start of their air conditioning and heat pump installations. The first heat pump installation took place at ArrowHead Golf Club.
Currently, the company specializes in installing and repairing heating and cooling systems. Our services extend to indoor air quality systems and sheet metal work. Our services are available for residential and commercial customers. As the General Manager, I have been a long-standing part of Wolfer's Home Services.

Last summer we purchased a brand new central heat and ac unit from Wolfers for 17 grand. This year on the 5th of august it quit working. My wife called and they sent a tech out on Monday the 7th. He said there was a leak in the line of our brand new unit and they had to order a part. I expressed concern that the following weekend was going to be a heat wave in the triple digits. He assured me I wouldn't go through the weekend with out ac. It's Monday. I have no ac. My wife called them as soon as they opened this morning and was told they would be here by 9:30. It's noon and I have no ac. I called and I'm being told they can't be here until tomorrow. The high is 108 today. I don't recommend this company
Oh man, where to start ..
I called Wolfer's because we just bought our first home and they were the original installers of our furnace, and also did the HVAC tune up we requested the former owners take care of.
After about 5 weeks of living in the home and using the AC periodically, it decided to go kaput over July 4th weekend (awesome, I know). We called and got a tech out the following day (good availability).
The tech who came out was the same one who did the HVAC tune up before our move in. When he arrived, the first thing he said was that he had told the former owners about a potential refrigerant problem. Shocking to us because it wasn't disclosed or repaired.
Ivan was nice - however he did not physically show us anything he found. After about 90 minutes he told us:
The control panel was bad, needs replacement. Estimate $1600+
The refrigerant is low and needs to be checked for a leak. Estimate $2300+
The AC unit itself could be a problem if low refrigerant (R22). We should get a ""comfort consultant"" to come out and quote us on a new system.
Reminder: Ivan didn't physically show us anything he found. Days later I had not received any photos or description of what he found.
Obviously all of this felt extreme and overwhelming - but it was 95+ degrees so we signed off on the estimate (important for later) for the control board and said to send the consultant. We would hear what they have to say.
Two days later Ron came over. Ron was friendly and generous. But let me be VERY clear: Both Ivan and Ron were there to SELL. When Ivan called the office to set up a consultation he asked for Lead Generators - that is the sales team. Not the repair or tech team.
The immediate recommendation was: Well, if you're low on R22 you might as well get a whole new AC plus your AC unit isn't efficient for the size of the home and if we make a repair the whole issue could come back in a cycle.
Estimate: $13,000 (are you freaking kidding me)
Oh and by the way we don't do drywall so we'll tear up your basement and not repair it. Nice touch ?
Ron also admitted he doesn't know about wiring or piping or... Sir, then you are just in sales and cannot help us find a solution to the current problem.
After this, Wolfer's team kept pushing us to finance a loan for the new AC unit and tried to schedule repairs and appointments that we had never signed off on or approved. I am very cautious about signing paperwork so I made sure to tell them, we did not authorize work and we did not schedule appointments. We signed off on an ESTIMATE.
A very big issue I had with this company:
I had to call them to request a copy of what I had signed. They never actually sent me what I had signed or any photos from Ivan's visit - we were still blind.
When they started sending me documents, they had placed MY signature on documents I had NEVER SEEN. What in the actual heck?! Seriously considered if I would need a lawyer (luckily did not!)
At Wolfer's they did have one very helpful woman on staff who talked me through the documents and even commented herself ""oh that's odd I don't know why he's put all this on the invoice since it hasn't been done yet...""
At the end of this whole ordeal, we had them cancel all work, send back the parts they'd ordered, and we only paid for the one visit on 7/4 though our credit was also affected because we got loan approval for the AC unit (which we did not collect or purchase).
I worry what would have happened to a less stubborn or knowledgeable family. It seems like a very easy way to take advantage of people, and we all know sales teams get commissioned on sales - Not actually helping clients.
We slept on all of this and called our realtor who recommended getting at least 1 more opinion. And thank God we did.
We called in another company.
Not only did they get the parts for the control board for $400 LESS. They also confirmed that we were NOT low on refrigerant - as Wolfer's team entirely fabricated - and we did NOT need a new AC. The issue was a clogged drainage pipe from the coils, which caused water damage to the control board and fan motor. $2800 in total costs. Done within 5 days, showed us every photo, and were incredibly helpful. Ultimately this was Chase Heating and Cooling out of Oregon City. They rock - go to them.
And stay vigilant out there!
And do NOT recommend Wolfer's.
If I could give zero stars, I would. This company has lied to me, not followed up and does not stand by their work. The most horrible experience ever. Do not trust them. Take your business elsewhere.
Lee N.Be very careful with this company as they have what is called the leaky line scam going on. This is a yearly occurring leak that happens in the lines and they come back and request 500 bucks or more to get it fixed. They also try and sign you up for a program ...this is such a transparent money grab. Stay away or get what you deserve.
Ive had a new HVAC system installed a few years back by Wolfers. Had the system maintained by Wolfers, today, I had a duct cleaning done by Matt working for Wolfers. Nothing but expert service and excellence. I would recommend them 200%.
Used Wolfers to have my air ducts cleaned.
A 3 hour job $599, very expensive!
we'll come to find out after the technician left my house my air conditioning did not work!
it happened over my Memorial Day weekend so they had no ONE to come out and resolve my issue. 5 days later I found out the technician did plug in my furnace after He was done! so I was 5 plus days without an operating furnace just Because the Wolfers employee failed to Plug in the electrical cord he Unplugged!
Wolfers did nothung to compensate me for my 5 days without a working furnace.
Very unprofessional in my opinion, Jeff Hunter
Julie B.I had Wolfer's install a new furnace about 2 years ago. About 4 months ago I noticed a leak on my ceiling. I thought it was the roof. My son went into the attic and said it is not the roof, it is the furnace. My furnace is in the attic and when it was put in the pipes for the condensation were not sealed well enough to last over 2 years!!! Do not use Wolfer's to install anything. Their plumbers do not know how to seal pipes! Now my ceiling wet spot has turned into two larger spots and Wolfer's cannot seem to figure out how to fix this. Someone came out about 2 months ago and since then I have called several times with NO return call, no return visit, nothing! When someone talks about the lack of customer service, please listen to them. This company does not return calls and they do NOT uphold the schedule. In March Wolfer's offered a spring special for my central air/Hvac system. I set up an appointment for the good deal they were offering and when that date came no one showed up. I called a couple of days later and set up another appointment but when that person came all he wanted to do was sell me an $800 thermostat!!! I just want my filters changed. Now it is the end of May and my filters have not been changed. My ceiling is getting worse and not word from Wolfer's on how they are going to fix their huge mistakes. Next call is to my lawyer.
Our 36-year-old central air conditioner went out. I called Wolfer's expecting them to be at least 4 weeks out but got an appointment 3 days later. Nate, their technician, came out and told me he would try everything possible to get it up and running again. He was very friendly and sent me pictures of the inside of it showing leaking oil, etc. He did not try to talk me into agreeing to a very expensive repair (if parts could even be located). He did say he could have a sales consultant call me to give me an estimate for a new AC but I declined for now and he didn't push it. I was very impressed with his exceptional professionalism and would definitely recommend Wolfer's to anyone needing their services.
They came to check on on AC unit for regular maintenance about 2 weeks ago. Everything looked good and told me it was running fine. Tried turning on my AC and its not turning on . Decided to take a look and they forgot to connect a couple of wires to the capacitor and not I have a blown capacitor and no working AC with a heat wave coming in. Update- they were able to come in earlier and taking responsibility for what happened
Judy B.I had an installation done 8/20, it went great, the crew was amazing. I was told I would be contacted by the city to do a final Inspection. Due to the Pandemic it wasn't done. About a year after install I was called to by Wolfers to schedule an appt for the final inspection. We made an appointment, the city inspector was a no show, I called Wolfers and was told they closed the permit and it was all done. I advised that no one came inside, but since it was over a year since the work was performed I thought they just closed it. The next year , the exact thing happened. Wolfers called and said I needed a final inspection, I told them what happened the year before. Schedule appt, no Inspector. I called Wolfers and again that the permit was closed. Then in Aug 2022 I got another call about a final inspection. I go over what's happened in the last 2 years. This time the Inspector does come out but we are missing a test before the permit can be closed. The City gives 10 days to complete. I took a lot of calling on my end to Wolfers to get a tech out in the time frame to finish the job. The tech comes and does the test. I'm assured that was the last thing that needed to be done. Once they send test results the permit will be filed. Then out of nowhere 4/10 I received a certified letter about a final inspection. The letter states they have been trying to reach me when there had been absolutely no attempts. I called the day I got the letter. I was told I'd get a call back that Wed because she (Whitney) had that Tuesday off. No call Wed, I called Whitney on Thursday and told she is just finishing up something and will call me back. She doesn't call me back. I called Friday, I'm told she stepped away from her desk but they will call me back to schedule appt .It's now been two weeks and I still haven't heard back from anyone. Since I was told back in August 2022 this was completed, I'd like to know why it's not been taken care of. I've paid you in full for the installation and each year after to come out and inspect my furnace that still doesn't have a permit. I'm obviously not your top priority since you've already taken my money but I'd want this completed . To send a certified letter and act like I'm the flake not answering your calls is ridiculous.
