Company Overview

With a legacy spanning over 100 years, Wittmaier Plumbing is dedicated to serving Collingswood and nearby towns. We are not just a plumbing service; we are a family tradition built on care and community. Owner Andrew Schmidt grew up immersed in the plumbing trade, learning from his father before taking the reins in 2008. Every October, we proudly participate in the ""Plumbers in Pink"" campaign to assist families in our community affected by breast cancer. We are honored to be your neighbor and even more honored to serve as your trusted plumbing provider.

Since 1919, Wittmaier Plumbing has addressed the plumbing needs of our community. Our company employs six experienced technicians who work weekdays to address plumbing problems, complemented by an office team to manage customer calls. We provide 24-hour emergency service with a live answering service—no machines here!. Our billing is straightforward: we charge by the hour with a one-hour minimum and half-hour increments thereafter. We provide 30-day billing options and accept payments via cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.

Andrew has never worked anywhere else but Wittmaier Plumbing. He started at the age of twelve, sorting fittings, stocking shelves, and managing paperwork. At fifteen, he moved into fieldwork to learn the technical side of plumbing. After high school, Andrew attended Stockton College, earning a business degree while working in the office to grasp the business side. In 2008, Andrew became the owner of Wittmaier, dedicating himself to customer happiness and business development.

Two great experiences with this company - where they fixed a leaky garbage disposal and now fixing the overflow valve on our tub (that leaked a lot). Both times they came out fast and had the job done within an hour or so.

Friendly professional service and no complaints.

My issue is the charges I received for the plumber's taking and chatting on personal phone calls and with spending an hour picking up a replacement for my tub faucet. I was charged for 3 hours plus parts, even after I called the manager to express my dismay regarding the instances below.

I had 2 dripping faucets, the tub and an outside faucet, and needed a replacement flap for the toilet. The plumber was late in arriving and within 10 minutes was engaged in personal phone calls. The first was from someone who fixed some vehicle for him, and he proceeded to visit with the person. Then he called his sons to talk with them about the repairs and how he had tried to fix them. He continued to just chit-chat with his sons. Following that, he called a plumbing supply store to see if they had a replacement that controls the leakage for the tub faucet (the faucet is a Delta, not anything fancy, so I was surprised he didn't have a replacement in his truck). He, again, visited with the person on the line, although it sounded to me as though the person really wanted to get off the call, as he didn't encourage more conversation.
He then left for the plumbing supply store at 2:50 p.m. I noted the time because I wanted to gauge how long I had to take my dogs before he would return; I figured 1/2 an hour. He returned at 3:45 p.m., quickly saying how busy the store was. (I doubted that considering how chatty he was on phone calls.)
When he returned to fix the tub faucet, he commented that it was a good thing he bought 2 of the replacements as he wasn't sure which would fit, although he took out the original one and, I assumed, he had taken that with him.
He received another phone call, from a colleague; he was off that call within minutes. Finally, he received another personal call from someone regarding a meeting; he didn't chat too long on that one. The time spent on personal calls was close to 1/2 hour.
After he ""fixed"" the outside faucet, I hooked up my hose. When I turned on the water a spout erupted from a hole in the pipe. When I called to him, it was obvious he knew that, as he didn't even bother to look at the pipe. He did fix it.
In addition to the charges for all the time he wasn't working, I gave up a ticket to a play in Philadelphia because I didn't have time to clean up and pick up the friend attending with me and get to the play on time.

Have used them several times for home plumbing. First was an emergency. Guy on phone was helpful on phone and walked me through shutting off valve so that I didn't have to shut off entire house. Scheduled regular service and saved me an emergency fee. Second time they replaced a flange on my toilet that was installed incorrectly from another contractor.

Update: The owner did reach out to me a few months after my original post and said he would come by personally to address my issue. By that point I had the issue fixed by another company.

I purchased a building on Westville just over a year ago and thought I had had a roof leak since I had two damp and sagging ceiling tiles. It turned out that someone had cut off some pipes from an old heating system and just turned off the valves and they started leaking. I called Wittmeier Plumbing and they were out first thing the next morning. They've bailed me out in a previous emergency as well. They made the repair in the way that it should have been done originally and also fixed an issue with my shop sink. As before, the work was very neat and they cleaned up as if they hadn't even been there. The were on time, professional and did quality work at a fair price. Will continue to use Wittmeier Plumbing for my plumbing needs.

Very poor communication. I have called the office 3 times since they came out last Tuesday and every time I've called, I am told they will need to call me back. Today is now Monday, my pipes are still leaking, and if it wasn't for the fact that my home warranty forces me to use them, I would have already called someone else to fix my issues.

Called my warranty company today for an update. They have received no communication from wittmaier either. The've collected my deductible and practically disappeared on me. The only positive I can say is that the tech that came out to my house to assess the situation was great. Everything else has been a complete nightmare. They are clearly disorganized or overbooked, possibly both. If you can't handle the work load, let the warranty company know so we can book someone else to come out!

Drew and his team handled a bathroom toilet remove and replacement project for our family. Their proposal was thorough and competitive. The work was performed by Greg in a professional manner. No issues at all. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Joe was really nice and professional. They fixed a leak for $100, and it took about an hour. Very reasonable... Gave me an estimate for something I asked, although it took a week to get to me via snail mail.
