The technician from Winters gave me outrageous estimates to either fix my 13 year old water heater or to replace it altogether. I decided to hire Big Blue for the service instead and I am very happy with the outcome. For $1200 a new water heater was installed and it comes with a 10 year warranty on the water heater for leaks and a 2 year parts and labor warranty. The cheaper installation with 6 year warranty and one year labor and parts would have been $995.
Winters estimates ranged from $1900 to $3500 plus a $19.95/month for the continuous care program. Funny thing is that I found out that they replaced my neighbors for $1300. Exact same model and work involved, the only difference is that my neighbor is a man so I can only assume that that since I am a single woman they thought that they could take advantage of my lack of knowledge about plumbing.

I can't judge their work because THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. The man on the phone spent 10 minutes trying to sell me a service contract BEFORE he would even let me tell him what the problem was with my plumbing. I told him I needed to try out their service first to see if I liked their work before considering a service contract. He PROMISED a plumber would be over THAT DAY. He said a plumber was working right down the street and I was the next stop. I waited around all day and nobody showed up. When I called them back, no one answered. I'll never call them again.

Winters has made it their job to buy out the local small plumbing businesses and seriously gouge the customer. I truely believe that due to the location of my home, being in an affluent community they felt it was no problem to charge over $2900 to replace a bathroom sink, kitchen sink and fix a minor drip in the toilet which he even said shouldn't take more than 15 minutes! We declined their services after the $89.00 fee and found another plumber who took care of all three problems for under $800!! There's somethng terribly wrong with a company that thinks they can run a racket such as this. This company needs to be held accountable for their unethical practices.

Winters installed a new boiler in my house in 2001 (stay with me; it gets relevant). Over $8,000. Learned last week (Dec. 2013; when my heat failed during the night) that Winters installed the boiler wrong: they did not install either of TWO valves (that are needed to get air out of the system that was screwing up the heat - so, instead of it being a simple 1 hour plumber job, it cost me $780 (parts and labor) to get the heat back on (and I still don't have those valves - that would have cost more). (My (new) plumber showed me in the original installation manual to the boiler - that Winters gave me (they signed the sheet attached to the manual) - that clearly shows the 2 valves). I won't bore you with all the other problems with the original install (there were other problems that linger on continuing to cause problems to this day, unfortunately).

Oh - and I called Winters about 4 years ago to replace my water heater because they had done the install of the prior one. Figured it might be under warranty so worth tempting fate. Jason was very polite, on time, good price. Huh. So, called him for toe kick heater replacement shortly thereafter. The pricing was crazy high: 3 different prices depending on length of warranty (never heard that before from a plumber); and the lowest was almost FIVE TIMES what the next guy quoted (Matt Buss - who we have used ever since, due to recommendations from several people in our neighborhood). Took him and a buddy about an hour to come up with the estimate. It was just weird - like talking to a car salesman. I was done with the company at that point. Plenty of other plumbers to call.

Had a great experience first time around, but I've now been ditched twice by this company for two different appointments. Don't bother with them.

The Winters Company arrived at my home promptly after I called seeking assistance with my heating problem. They are very professional and knowledgeable in the field of heating and cooling, hence their pricing. But they also have a very helpful staff of mechanics that are willing to walk a customer, such as myself, through the difficult diagnostic process.
After helping me for two days straight, Zane, one of the company's dedicated workers, finally let me know that the job was going to be much more extensive than we could have anticipated. He had done some extensive work with the computer system and tedious troubleshooting, but after he realized that the work was going to be much more costly, he apologized for the consumption of our time, and did not charge us for his work.
Overall, I'd have to say it was a bummer to be without heat, but the professionalism this company has to offer is second to none. If a customer is left in the cold after their visit they are understanding.
For extensive work, such as a replacement furnace, we were explained their lenient payment plans (12 months same as cash with extended warranties) which is definitely caused me to ruminate over the possibility of calling them in for future work. Yes they cost more, but the service is top notch.

They did not fix my heat...so why did I give them a full 5-star rating? Customer service, which is a lost art lately. In their defense, they would have been able to fix it, but it was a repair beyond the original assessment (the previous owners had ""modified"" the furnace with aftermarket parts that were sub par).
The technician was completely honest with us about the costs, too. He stated that, while the quote was a bit higher than other companies, it was because it included parts, labor, all guarantees, and any follow-up services.
He spent about 3-4 hours of his time diagnosing the problem, installing a few parts that he hoped would work despite the faulty aftermarket parts, and talking with us about our options. Then...he DID NOT CHARGE US ONE RED CENT! I am not kidding. I never imagined that a company would be so honest. I was afraid that moving to the ""big city"" from down south would mean dealing with people who would try to take advantage of my ignorance, but this company totally squashed that notion.
Although the repair was not as they originally thought, the company offered us an alternative option that will fix the problem until we can buy a new furnace in a few years.
They also apologized profusely for not being able to fix the problem that night (even though the problem was really out of their scope).
Again, this company is great and I am completely happy with their work.

The repair worker's name was Zane, and he was beyond amazing. A true professional, and very friendly. If you can, ask for him!!

OK, This place was a bit pricey, but they were professional, licensed, insured, and are processing permit for me. Zane came out, and was quick and professional. You could get work done cheaper, but as a homeowner its just better to get it done right the first time.Trust Me!

Thank heavens my husband understands electrical wiring! The installation of our new electric water heater does not even meet code and was a fire hazard. We called the company, and they will be sending someone else to fix it.

Avoid at all costs!

Atrocious price gouging. I live out of state and just got a quote for a new garbage disposal install. Parts and Labor - $850 for cheapest option - $3000 for full service contract. Local plumber I called after these guys (after he stopped laughing) gave me a quote of $325 parts and labor.

Don't bother getting a quote from them...they probably stay afloat because they're well advertised by virtue of taking over for Hub Plumbing and they get $69/service visit regardless of whether or not they do anything. Save your money and call anyone but these guys.
