Showed up quickly but an utter ripoff. $390 to replace a thermocouple on a furnace. Had the same thing done last year on hot water heater ON XMAS EVE and it was $175. Would never call again.
Misleading quote. Not a fair value. Lacking of integrity. Pricing is triple the norm. Vendors' site excludes any and all bad reviews. Mine is no where to be found. Bottom line, find someone else!
Boyi L.DO NOT USE! WORST and MOST EXPENSIVE company to work with. Spent more than $1000 and wasted a month and half but got nothing fixed. I had a broken electrical heating unit, the problem shown on my Nest thermostat as no power to Rh wire. The first time Winters Home Service sent someone over and charged me $700 for a capacitor change. That universal capacitor model costs $80 at Home Depot. The machine did not even last a full month. The second time they sent someone over to look at my unit, they charged me $300 for one fuse replacement and two extra fuses for my future use. The number 5 easy ID fuse they left me with cost less than 20 dollars. The machine only lasted 4 days, as I replace the fuse with other professionals' guidance, I saw a sparkle and the fuse immediately burned out.
Tried to charge me $550 (on top of the $430 service fee for a cleaning) for a little giant brand gas boiler condensate pump. home depot lists the same pump for $45. the techie couldn't explain the over 10X price rip-off. i ran out and got the pump myself rather than pay these bandits.
from Arlington, MA!
Had a new range installed - they scheduled installation the same week but did not want to give a price quote over the phone. The technician installed the range, but the range not even close to being level. When I called to complain, the foreman guy was more than defensive keep saying that they were only responsible to hook it up, not to level it! After some back and forth arguing he agreed to send the same technician to fix it for me as ""a favor"". He came and almost fixed it. Would never use them again.
I had my ac unit charged by Winters and it cost me three times as much as any other company would have charged. I didn't have time to shop around due to being in the middle of a heat wave, but I definitely will not use Winters again for any service.
I called their off to see if they could do anything for me and provide a slight discount, but they basically said it is what it is, and I should have declined the work before starting. Had I known I could have without any fees, I would have.
I asked for a break down if the labor vs materials and they said it's all in the system and had no idea how much they charge for Labor.
Do yourself a favor and shop around for pricing before using Winters!
A few weeks ago, our furnace stopped working. Our plumbing company came out, tightened some wiring which took all of 2 minutes, told us that the furnace brand was no longer in business and that we were screwed if it went down again because they wouldn't be able to find parts. When I asked about replacing the furnace, I was told to call the office and they would send someone else out to review and provide an estimated cost.
Yesterday, our furnace stopped working again so I decided to research and try a new company. I settled on Winters Home Services after reading several of the 800+ positive Google reviews. I called them at 7:00 this morning and they had two guys - Vinnie and Jeff - here before 9:00. That was the first awesome thing. The second awesome thing was Vinnie and Jeff themselves. They were very pleasant and outgoing and I liked their personalities right off the bat. Fortunately for me, the furnace suddenly started working again as they soon they took the panel off so they didn't have to do anything BUT I was able to talk to them about replacing it, going with a different model, adding central AC, moving my thermostat, etc. AND they were able to ballpark a cost right then and there.
I felt a higher level of comfort and confidence in their expertise and responses to my questions. The third awesome thing was they didn't charge me for the visit even after I insisted. It totally made my day! I am absolutely a new customer and can't wait to have them back out in June to replace my furnace and help me build a better mousetrap. Thank you Vinnie and Jeff. Your time, presence and all around assistance this morning was much appreciated!
DO NOT USE! I had no heat and hot water for 8 days - because my water heater is under warranty they took their time. Although initially he told me the parts weren't under warranty until I showed him my paperwork....it was! He ordered a part, came to fix and then needed to order another part. Told me had to order and took another 4 days!!! After he fixed it and where he had the water come through after he refilled the hot water tank, the water pressure in my kitchen sink was much different and had 1/2 the pressure and the spray valve doesn't work anymore - you now need to hold it down. I emailed them about it and NO response so now I have another issue to fix. DO NOT USE as there are companies with much better customer service and turn around time out there.
I've tried a few plumbers but Winters is the best. James Jones was the Winters tech I had - Skilled professional who recognized the issue and found a solution. Personable and honest. Highly recommended.
Stephen Q.Back during the summer of 2019, I was having an issue with my condo's central AC. Based on a review from a co-worker, I placed a call to Winters for them to come out and assess the situation. I was charged over $160 for a home visit. The technician, who was very young, didn't actually perform any analysis of the situation, other than to say that my rooftop air conditioner was obviously undersized for my unit. He promised that he would supply an estimate for replacement as soon as possible. A week went by and I never received anything from Winters so I gave them a call and left a message for the owner. Someone called back but didn't leave a message. I called again a week later but never received a call back from anyone at the company. I would not recommend Winters for any HVAC work and I will never use them again.
