Company Overview

Commercial Plumbing Contractors Wilson Plumbing Company, a third-generation family enterprise, began in College Station, TX, established by the grandfather of current owner Terry Wilson. Initially an appliance store, C.O. Wilson discovered the need for plumbing services to complement its sales. This insight gave rise to Wilson Plumbing Company. Terry Wilson learned the plumbing craft from his grandfather while working summers as a child. Following his grandfather's passing, Terry Wilson became one of the youngest individuals to earn his Master Plumbing License in December 1981. In Austin, TX, Terry Wilson launched Wilson Plumbing Company, while his older brother continued to oversee the College Station store. Today, Wilson Plumbing Company upholds the same values, integrity, and commitment to the evolving plumbing industry that his grandfather instilled. An authentic narrative of an American family business triumph.

Review update: they made it right! We called and discussed our inability to get a rebate, plus the amount of time spent, and Mr. Wilson heard us out, talked to the plumber who did the work, and discounted the cost of the job with the exorbitant bill. Add it to the list of pros: these people are indeed professional. I will call them again for major plumbing work.

I thought I was a pessimist, but even *I* was able to seriously underestimate the exorbitant cost of some recent gas work I had done by Wilson Plumbing. I have had similar work done in the past - running a gas line in a home from floor to attic- and it did not take 6 hours or cost nearly as much. Upon opening the bill: ouch.

First, the pros: whoever picks up the phone does his best to get a handle on your needs and understand the situation. I also used these guys for a repair on a rental property and for understanding my billing needs and tenant contact info, bravo. And the work is done well - you're paying for a licensed plumber. It ain't cheap.

Cons: I was told the installation of a gas line for my dryer would take about 2-3 hours. I guesstimated that would be about $500 in labor. We added on another small repair when we made the appointment. The whole ordeal took 6 hours, mostly because of the inability to poke through attic insulation. My husband ended up having to hand them a golf club from the garage to get it done. Shortly after they departed, we discovered a gas leak in the laundry room, caused by a cracked fitting on the dryer, which necessitated another visit the following morning. (Fixed at no charge.)

Mega cons: 6 weeks later we got a bill that's about the house payment, billed for 6 hours of labor. $140/hour to poke holes in insulation. What's more annoying, I then found out Texas Gas Service offers a $300 rebate for dryer gas valve installation, but our install won't qualify because the plumber did not get a permit. Again, ouch.

They came by this morning and diagnosed a problem that another plumbing company had told me would cost a lot more money. They were professional and helpful.

I am not the kind of person to write reviews - but I felt I had to make time for this. One of my bathroom sinks needed replacing, Instead of going through the big box where I bought the sink - I wished to give my business to the local guy.......from the neighborhood - we live in Allandale. The plumber in question broke the faucets while removing them, they where relatively new for faucets - only five years old and in good shape. He was unable to complete the work during his first visit - which was maybe two hours worth - 7 days later he came by for another 2 hours or so to finish up. Upon completion I was presented with a 478.00 bill - 448.00 just in labor (plus the new faucets I had to go buy) another 100 and change -more than twice the big box quote. When I pointed out that seemed a little high too switch out a bathroom sink I was told the problem was my being a cheap skate because the sink that I bought was cheap and that the problem lay there. The fellas at Lowe's quoted me 225.00 for that same sinks installation. I don't know, maybe they are used to working with cheap sinks, anyways my conclusion was that he just was not competent. Truly - who wants to have to write one of these things, I honestly just hoped to find a good local plumber, sadly I did not.

Dependable, helpful, professional, efficient and the best plumbing company we've ever had in our home. We are so happy to have found this company. We live in an old house with old plumbing. These are the people who know what to do and they are the best in Austin.

Wilson plumbing hooked me up!! These guys are interested in old houses and dealing w old house plumbing unlike previous plumber I called last week. They got popup assembly to work on antique by using bit of sandpaper to adjust drain size after previous plumber who I also paid 2 hours wasn't able to do and who said I needed new sink. I love my sink! And now it doesn't leak. Also the owner? Who does the booking was knowledgable and informative going in.

Used on several occasions for routine residential issues. Family business but big enough to have plumbers available at relatively short notice. Quality of work is high. Tends to be at the higher-end on a cost basis but probably worth it.

I had a bad leak that soaked the ceiling of the first floor. the water was dripping down at a steady pace. I called a couple of other plumber with no return calls. I finally reached Wilson Plumbing and spoke to Chris. He sent Jay over to see what was going on. Jay took about 10 minutes to find the problem. It was not a plumbing problem. The AC drain on the second floor was stopped up and dripping like an open faucet. Jay could have told me it was a plumbing problem and charged me for it and I would have never known the difference. I just happened to have an AC guy there changing out an AC and he fixed the problem and all is well. I just had to pay the service call. Great Job Jay.
