Great experience with Patrick! We were having trouble with our heating unit in a rental, and he came out quickly and evaluated that it was in good shape and we did not need a new one. Also he would not accept any payment for his visit. Seems like you have to know how to use the thermostat properly for it to work! Whenever we do need a unit we will definitely call Wightons.

Today, 4/14/23, I received a call from the manager of Wighton's and he was very apologetic regarding my experience. John told me that he was recently hired and is trying to help improve service at the company through further training of technician's and also working with IT to get the pricing program to work well for the company and it's patrons. I felt better after talking with John and trust that he will make every effort to ensure quality service received from the company. I would recommend the company now that I have talked with John.

My original post:

On 4/5/23 I wrote: Last week after reading the google reviews for Wighton's Plumbing, I decided to call them to unclog my kitchen sink. They said they'd be out the next day in the afternoon. When I didn't hear from them at 4pm, I texted and asked if anyone was coming. I was texted back and they said they were sorry, but they'd come the following afternoon. 2 technicians came out to do a simple job and after checking several issues, I was quoted a bid of $325 and was very dismayed. I thought the bid was way too high, in fact that it was ""highway robbery"" for what I thought would be a simple job. They apologized and wanted to try to negotiate a price, and asked me what I thought would be fair. I said $125, and they said that they could not reduce the bid. I told them that I would not pay the price of the bid, and they reduced the service call fee to $77 from $99. I wrote a check and they left without giving me a receipt.

After they left, I called my handyman and he came over later that evening and together we were able to get the drain cleaned out within 30 minutes with just a simple snake through the drain vent and the hose. I could have done this myself had I been able to get the cap off the vent, but I wasn't strong enough to turn the cap. I told the Technicians this and they understood. I also knew that they would not have to clean out the down spout to the main line and didn't want them to for concern that pipes could get broken in the process which would entail more cost.

I am very glad that I turned down the bid from your company because for 30 min of work, I would have been even more angry if I'd paid $325. I am upset enough that I wrote a check for ""no work done"".

I also called other reputable plumbing companies in the area, Rooter Rooter and Patriot, and asked them for a verbal bid for cleaning out a plugged kitchen sink, which I should have done when I called Wighton's. Lesson learned. The verbal bids were $165 and $160 which included the service call and the work with a minimum of an hour of labor. Much more reasonable and half what I was quoted by Wighton's. If ever I need a plumber again, I'll call Patriots as the owner sounded very nice.

We had them install a heat pump furnace and a/c. Cost close to $20,000. No one told us before the installation that it would vibrate and make a terrifying groaning sound. Nor was it discussed that since the outside unit was on the exterior wall of our bedroom , these noises would interfere with our sleep. Nor was it suggested to move the outside unit further away from the walls of the house, which we would have definitely done if the noise issue had been disclosed. After installation we called the sales rep to report the noise. Several days later we received a callback promising a tech would come out. Nearly a week after that (and several additional calls) the tech comes out, reports that part of the installation was not completed (heat strips). He evidently fixed that but that didn't resolve the issue, so he told us the company would likely suggest moving the outside unit and would send us an estimate. Still no estimate. The original installation was March 15. The tech came out last week. We are having to wear earplugs at night. I don't even want to think about how much additional cost there will be to move the outside unit away from the walls and repipe it. Buyer beware! They weren't the cheapest of the bids we received, but seemed like they were recommending good solutions for our house.

This Company is extremely expensive. we have been a member for a long, long time we pay $9.99 a month. that gives us a $20 visit discount if we need their help, which we have maybe 5 or 6 times over the years to check our heater. No work.($79) Their repairs are exorbitant. $590.00 to put in 2 plugs. They won't give you a breakdown of parts and labor. We went to a small local plumber and got it done for $300.

Wighton's replaced a hot water heater that was leaking. I didn't take time to call and see what other rates were as I needed the water off then to keep my water bill from going through the roof. They are going to email an invoice showing just the cost of $2875. I requested showing how much the tank was, any part's required, and the labor cost. They don't do that I was told. Know now i could have bought a tank for $500-700 elsewhere. My son in law is furious saying they took advantage of an elderly, single woman. Won't ever do business with them again and no recommendation from me.

We were told they would be here ""first thing in the morning "". It's noon, no show, no call or text. My husband lost at least two hours of work waiting for them. Why? Why should it be so difficult to communicate. This is why people hate tradesmen.

I bought a York furnace for my home in 2020. The cost was $7,000. I later had an energy-efficient thermostat installed. As the thermostat was electric and my furnace was natural gas, I was curious if there was an override on the furnace in case of a power outage. I called the office and spoke with ""V,"" who advised I would need to schedule a home visit from a technician. I advised I simply needed an answer to a simple question. V repeated my need to schedule an appointment because they ""don't give out free information."" When asked if I could speak with a supervisor for clarification, she claimed all people were out to lunch (at 3:00 p.m.) but that they would tell me the same answer offered by V. If this is how Wighton's treats their customers, I suggest you purchase your HVAC needs elsewhere.

We were told there would be a $99 site visit fee and diagnostics beyond that would be extra. We had a leak. When the technician showed up, we were told the diagnostic fee would be $315 and if we declined that option we still owed $99 just to answer the door. They need to tell people their fee for diagnosis is $315 before coming out. I clearly explained we didn't know the source of the leak and needed help figuring out what the problem is. We wouldn't have agreed to that price over the phone and gone with a different option...

All I needed was some new filters for my reverse osmosis system. Wighton's Heating and Air Conditioning charged my card $715 for new filters, and I still can't use my reverse osmosis system because they didn't finish the job. If you are smart, you will stay as far as possible from Wighton's Heating and Air Conditioning as they will rip you off and not complete the work. You have been warned.

These guys are not good. They incorrectly installed our hosting and air conditioning. They set it up for natural gas, when we are clearly on propane, as we live in country. Had to be changed over after the install. They recently ""serviced"" our unit and two weeks later it goes out. Then they don't show up when they say they will to make whatever repairs that are necessary.
