Very responsive attentive and professional. Respectful, very informative and helpful. Highly recommend if you are looking for any repairs for your home!
Christina J.Their website says emergency services. TOTAL LIE!!!!! American Home Shield is quick to assign them. Horrible company! Took them three months to figure out my attic fan. Now, I have to call a plumber on my own to keep my floor from rotting out because of this plumb leak leak!!!!
George B.Wow, it appears to be deja vu after reading many comments on here. I also have had American Home Shield assign this worthless service provider to go to one of my rental properties to work on a ceiling fan only to have them twice send a communication that a technician was scheduled and or on the way only to have no one ever show up. The most concerning thing is apparently American Home Shield has been notified numerous times about the issues associated with this service provider to the point that customers have requested that this service provider be blocked and AHS still insist on maintaining a partnership with them and using them even though they are not doing the job and are negatively impacting their customers. Shame on AHS and this lousy company.
Where to begin. I'm not usually one to write reviews. But this company sure deserves one. Whitney Plumbing like most reviewers stated, was assigned to us through American Home Shield. In October we started having issues with our tankless water heater going out and not heating up. The technician came out and ""guessed"" that the issue was the unit needed to be descaled. After paying out of pocket $250... guess what?! We still had no hot water. At this point a second technician that came out around Christmas decided he would put a request in for replacement because they were out of guesses. Shortly after this we received an invoice from Whitney stating we owed $609 for services AHS would not cover. Again, in good faith and thinking ""this is it we're really going to have hot water during a Michigan winter"" we paid. That was 12/27/23. It only took a month and multiple nasty calls to both AHS and Whitney to get my hot water heater installed 1/30/24. I went as far as contacting the vendor who had the unit to find out the status of the delivery / pick up. The unit was there and ready to be picked up for weeks. That entire time AHS blamed Whitney and Whitney blamed AHS.
Fast forward to yesterday and 2 months with this new unit. I contacted AHS again because yet again we are having intermittent hot water. I was advised to contact the manufacturer because now I'm under warranty with them. The manufacturer advised me that there is a list of plumbers they work with and are specialized in their units. They were very clear in stating that if the issue is poor installation or the unit is installed incorrectly their warranty would not cover that. I called the new plumber (unnamed) right away and had a technician in my home by 9am this morning. Within 3 minutes my hot water heater was unplugged and gas shut off. The technician found about 5 issues with the installation. Including rotting of the flute and exhaust. He freaked out because we could have been exposed to carbon monoxide or a fire. All because Whitney's technicians taped the duct work in order to cut corners. Now I'm looking at another couple weeks of no hot water and possibly a couple thousand dollars to have Whitney's mess cleaned up. Oh and the best part is I called Whitney and spoke to supervisor who while he couldn't make any decisions on some sort of compensation and wasn't a plumber by trade asked to speak to the plumber from the new company to see if he could explain to him all the things that were wrong. I paid $316 for this new company to tell Whitney how they royally screwed up.
Stay far away
I am so frustrated and angry with this company. I have parents that are 87 years old and their furnace went out last year, in the coldest part of the winter. Between American Homeshiels and Whitney, it took them almost a month to install a new furnace. It went out hours afterthey left and they had to camoe back to fix it the next day. This winter, in the week of single digit temps, it goes out again. They have come out several times. Each person tells them something else. One said the furnace was installed wrong, one said it was a bad furnace, and the last guy said there was nothing wrong with it but turned it off and told them to leave it off. In the mean time, my dad had heart surgery and comes home to no heat. We have heaters in the house but they paid for a furnace and protection, they shouldn't have to deal with this incompetence. How do you say the furnace is fine then turn it off????? They have been without heat for 3 weeks!! This is crazy.
Oh, they turned off the furnace on a Wednesday. Never said if or when they'd be back and they aren't open on the weekend.
As many poor reviews as there are on here, it appears they don't really care.
If you are considering using this company.....DON'T
Still waiting for someone to show up. They were supposed to arrive between 1-8 yesterday, jan 5, 2024. As of today, Jan 6th, they have not showed up and we have tried to call every number and have left messages with no response. We have not had hot water since Monday. This is just beyond ridiculous!!
Joy B.My warranty company sent them for an electrical issue 8/27. They had to return 9/6 and they didn't submit
I wish I could leave - 10 stars! This company is the absolute worst! If AHS assigns them to your request ask for another service provider. I won't go into the details, but it was a 3-week ordeal that ended up with a dishonest tech and a company that doesn't care. Then again that's par for the course seeing the other reviews. AVOID AT ALL COST!
Jhansi K.Technician knocked the door 30 min late after the appointment time, he didn't even have the patience to stay at the door for 30 seconds. By the time we opened the door he was going back to his van (thought he wants to bring in some equipment), but he drove away in no time. We were told that he waited for 1 hr when we called the customer care. This is not certainty true. Or, he is just sitting in his van and didn't care about knocking on the door until 1 hr of his arrival. We were offered to re-schedule the appointment, but denied after seeing the other reviews. AHS reimbursed the charges. My overall experience was very unhappy and un-reliable with this company.
To Whom it may concern,
I submitted a repair to American home shield on Sunday Oct. 29th. @ around 5:00pm. I was told that a provider would be scheduled and dispatched as soon as possible. I was later sent a text saying that Whitney Servies would be the technician. However, they would not be able to be there till Tuesday Oct. 31st.
The technician showed on Tuesday and was in my home and out within 30mins. Stating that it was a ignitor and that he would have to order the part and it could be a few days to a week. I then follow up with Whitney Service, dept letting them know about the uneasy feeling experience I had with their technician that was doing unsafe things on the furnace.
I then received a Text stating that another technician would be dispatched on Saturday Nov 4th. The technician showed and to my knowledge his name was Keegan and seem to really know what he was doing and yet was having issue trying to get it to work as well. He stated that it could very well be the lower board or even the ignition switch above.
He went as far as recommending maybe having the unit switched out. Keegan did explain that I would need to follow up with American Home shield due to the fact that some customer will have to pay out of pocket for any modification that are needed.
So, on Sunday Nov 5th. I reached out to American Home Shield and asked the representative after explaining to him about what was found and what was being said. I asked will I need to put any money out of pocket for the switch to be done? The representative stated absolutely not! You will be totally covered. I said to him please move forward and let's get this done. I am having been with no heat at this time for over a week.
He said stated that it wasn't a problem and it would be done. I then receive an email Tuesday Nov 7th. stating that I would have to pay $ 2,350.00 out of pocket for modification needed to replace the furnace. I immediately called back to them and was told that the representative had never should have said that and that American Home Shield doesn't cover modification.
However, that they would offer a cash out for the furnace and I could then take care of what would be needed then. I was able a few days later get ahold of the cash out dept for American Home Shield and they offered me first time $ 714.00 .I yes used some choice words and stated what was I supposed to but a potbelly stove!! The representative said my last name and I went back at her telling her all the money I have spent over the pass how many years and you're going to insult me with that little bit. She says let me check again and came back and said O yes, I did add that wrong it will be 744.00. I stated O great I can but an extra piece of coal and hung up the phone on her.
I then reached out to Whitney Services and stated to them that I wanted them to replace the parts. I spoke with their Representative Dee and she called back a few minutes later letting me know that she had spoken with Austin and Ashton and that the parts will be order and something will be scheduled.
I then received a text for a technician to be dispatched to my home on Nov 10th. with the new parts. On Nov 10th. the technician Jacob showed around 2:30pm and after 30 mins he figured he had gotten the wrong lower mother board. So, he then calls the supply place and they confirm that he was given the wrong board. Jacob then reached out to Ashton about was he was dealing with.
After Ashton and Jacob trying thing over the phone. Ashton told Jacob to go get the correct board and the ignition switch as well. Jacob then leaves comes back about and hour later and proceeded to start switching wires from the old boards to the new ones. This process took him a long time. I unsure if it was that the way the new board was designed or if the knowledge of it wasn't there! I say this because once he got the wire switched and tired to start the furnace. All he could get it to do was the blower would come on but nothing else. So, after messing with it for a bit we were know coming on 6:30pm and he, stated well I will have to have to see if they can dispatch a senior technician out and that I have other customer I need to get to so I can finish my call list. Jacob then packed up his tools and left.
I then waited till he left and was extremely frustrated and went down to look at what all Jacob had switched out and hooked up. Please note that I know very little about HAV! So, I pulled off the front upper panel and just was looking it over. The very first thing that I noticed was that there was a green ground wire just hanging out and that wire was coming off the new ignition box that he had never mounted back to the inside furnace wall. So, I immediately pulled off the lower panel, held the ground wire to the back of the ignition switch and held it against the wall of the furnace hit the switch below and know I have the blower going and we have spark!!
I can't begin to tell anyone how upset and a
