Once again Doug to the rescue!! A couple years ago I called on Doug when we were having Kitec issues. He was extremely helpful to our situation and it was much appreciated! Today I had him come by to put a relief valve in our recirc system. Come to find out our pump is totally dead and also the plumbing company that put in the sytem did not install equipment they should have done. Doug doesn't even want to charge me for his time to come out. It is beyond wonderful to find an honest and knowledgeable plumber these days! I would highly recommend Doug and will continue to use him for our plumbing needs! Thank you Doug!

I honestly dislike leaving bad reviews on a Tradesman, and especially a local Tradesman... However, last year around this time I had Doug come out because my lower level ""addition"" toilet was backing up. I showed him the cleanout for the toilet on the exterior wall and asked him if a 4"" pipe that was at grade level with no cleanout cap was possibly the main cleanout? I didn't know because there wasn't the standard cleanout cap and I wasn't a part of my homes remodel before we bought the home 6 years ago. I was told by Doug that it wasn't the Main Cleanout and he was not sure what it was, even though it was 4"" black pipe and inline with the city sewer tap and the side exterior of the house. Doug decided to snake a camera down the 3"" line through the 2"" exterior wall cleanout from the toilet at the lower level. He then used a signal device to tell me that my mainline had a belly in it and was causing the backup. He said he would have to trench the entire old line and replace it with a new one for $5000 or dig where the belly was and splice in a cleanout for less? I said is it possible that I had some tree roots issues instead? I had just cut down 2 40' hackberry trees from my front yard and one was about 5' from the mainline. He said no? He charged me $130 for the 30 minutes and left. I got ripped off and here's why! I ended going to HD and renting a 100' 5/8"" snake and removed my toilet from my original bathroom that I know was tied into the main sewer line. I rootered it myself for a couple hours and bore through a bunch of roots which eliminated my backup! 1 year later the problem reappeared, only this time I saw the sewage bubbling up from the 4"" pipe that I was told ""was not my main cleanout""!!! So back to Home Depot and re snaked, all good again and I now have a cleanout with cap installed on the 4"" pipe, so if I ever call Doug again...He will know right where to go?! Sheesh...maybe a little effort next time to help a neighbor out! Tip: These State Street West Sac Homes in your neighborhood have similar plumbing.

Doug did not even come to my house but spent 15 minutes of his time on the phone with me giving me advice on how to fix the problem myself. I really appreciate an honest experienced persons option and he gave me great advice. I would gladly call him for future work.

Job done April 2019. What can I say about Doug at Whitmore Plumbing? Absolutely excellent work from start to finish. I was home with the week Doug was at my house doing a re-pipe. Doug was very receptive to my questions and input regarding some creativity that this job required. When it came time for final trim out of the kitchen sink, Doug juggled his schedule to fit me in after my kitchen countertop was delayed. Highly recommend!

Add Doug to your household's emergency contact list! There is nothing is worse when your main water line will not turn back on, you need to drink water/use the bathroom and it is Saturday evening. Doug called us back immediately and came to our house in 20 minutes. Through no fault of ours, our water main wouldn't turn on and we knew it was an issue above our skill level. Doug did not belittle our diy work at all (which a lot of professionals do to guilt us into their services.) In fact, he spent extra time to walk through different options - like a family friend giving us honest advice. He was thorough, professional, and gave us realistic expectations of future wear and tear. He wasn't pushing or pressuring or scaring us into worse case scenarios. We had a broken water pipe underneath a concrete slab outside the bathroom that was leaking. Our tenants had no hot water. Doug came out & brought a subcontractor that could detect the location of the leak. Once he knew where it was, Doug jackhammered thru the concrete to pinpoint the leak & repair it. He worked Saturday & Sunday in the rain to fix the problem.
We were so impressed with his work ethic, his professionalism & his approach to just fixing the problem, and not quoting us a ridiculous price to re-pipe the entire house for $10,000 like another plumbing company did.

Doug is a great plumber. He has high standards and lots of experience. We had very low water pressure and because our house is about 60 years old, we thought the old corrugated pipes were corroded. I saw Whitmore Plumbings high ratings on Yelp and called him. He came over within a few days and carefully inspected our plumbing and gave us a bid to replace all inside supply plumbing with copper pipe and to replace our shower valves. What convinced me to hire him was that he looked for ways to access the pipes while making minimal holes in the wall. Because we have a raised foundation, he did most of the work under the house. He also replaced some blocked drain pipe in a sink and remounted our toilets. He did all this work for under $9000. Given the skill this work required and the cost of copper pipes and the quality work he did, I think the price was very reasonable. We would hire Whitmore Plumbing again.

Our basement water heater sprung a leak on a Sunday morning. While I shut the water off and bailed water, my wife first called around to three other, better known companies. Yes, those companies w/24 hour, 7 days/week dispatch. She noted that while they did have someone available on the phone (dispatch) they actually had no one available to dispatch. Then she called Doug Whitmore and he made himself available - purchased the water heater and was at our house within the hour. Awesome. And the price was fair.

We hired him again to reinstall an original bathroom fixture I found in a lost box in the attic (something another firm would roll their eyes over) and he took it on as a challenge. ""Make a fixture from 1928 work again? I'm on it!"" And he did. I will never hire another plumber as long as I live in Sacramento!
