Whipple came to my house on a Sat. They replaced two tank assemblies and two faucet aerators. It was all done in an hour. Whipple charged me $601 for that. So I could be generous and say the parts cost $100 (but it was more like $60). So I paid $500+ in labor. Now I understand a weekend call is more expensive, but $500? Are you kidding me? They also make you fill out a customer survey right in front of the technician...of course you're not gonna say it was bad. And they claim upfront pricing....they would not even itemize parts and labor. If they did so, I could tell them to their face their prices are way off. They are lying in advertising. I wouldn't use them again if they paid me.
Lol, the previous guy needs to read the ads better! It says that ""For emergency service, when you call today, we come today"" and they gave him the emergency service rate. Bottom line, they have the best prices in the valley. And yes, they may take awhile to get to you, during their ad seasons, but those prices are for maintenance, not emergencies.
If you need service right away, it would be in your best interest to go with someone ese, but you won't get better service anywhere! They keep their appointments, and they are very professional, and polite. ""Shady Outfit"" is the complete opposite of what I would say about these guys.
Horrid! Worst place to work if you want a paycheck. I could have made a lot more working for a fast food company. After several weeks of messed up paychecks and excuses as to why i was not getting paid, I had enough. The company's only concern is the bottom line, even if they have to take from you to maintain that.
Ripping off the customer is an everyday occurance, $2100 for a water heater that you can buy for $285 is just sickening. It's not the Technitians fault, he has to charge that as a ""Flat Rate"". To top it off the company makes $1400 in profit on that water heater sale. The rest comes out of the plumbers pocket for parts and gas. Gas... paying for the gas in a company truck is just a crime. Hard to make ends meet when your paycheck goes to cover more than $800 in fuel every month.
Save yourself the grief and stress. Avoid this place as a customer and definately as a technitian.
Whipple ""service champions"" are dishonest and charge way too much money.
I had them look at repairing the bypass valve on my home water softener. He originally told me that it was too old to replace and we would likely need a new water softener (code for lots of money). I insisted he look for the part.
Three days after telling me he would come back, I called to see when the repair could be done. I was informed that (coincidentally) it would happen in the next two hours.
After a simple repair process that literally took him less than 30 minutes, he handed me an workorder for $488.50. I was charged $370 for the part, $49 to have it ""shipped,"" and $69.50 for the ""dispatch fee."" Now, I understand that they have to make money to stay in business, charge for their service, etc. However, I found the same replacement part on-line for $42.50, with less than $10 shipping fee. I was charged $419 for parts / shipping that cost about $50 total, including shipping.
I called the office and complained about the fact that he never gave me a quote, and the price was too high, they told me all their managers were out of the state and could not return my call, even though is was about noon on Friday.
I will never use Whipple again. They are completely dishonest. Their prices are extremely high, and their customer service is terrible.
Zach C.Wish I could bring them down another star, but looks like they're already there!
Charged me $500 to route my main line, said they had to pull the toilet for another $200. 2 days later it backed up again, said it would be $1200 to jet it. I called Joe's Sewer Mail Line, they came and routed it from outside for $200 without pulling the toilet. Did a perfect job. When I called Whipple for some sort of a refund since I paid for no services rendered they refused. Not even $25 bucks back. Guess they want lawsuits, unhappy customers, and bad Yelp reviews. CALL JOE'S SEWER AND MAINLINE!!
Rating should be zero stars or negative 5 stars. I have a plumber friend who was buried with a lot of clients so I called Whipple just to see what they would quote me. Had a basement drain (exposed for easy access) that had some leakage at the 2 joints of an ""S curve"" of the pipe. They sent out 2 guys who rolled out the red carpet on the porch with big fanfare and they were wearing booties. That ultimately turned out to be a joke based on what happened. They studiously looked at the pipe and then pulled out a binder with standard quotes of repairs. Most of them for a repair like mine were showing a $1000 plus. Then one of the Whipple plumbers said ""well this repair would normally be about $1200 but since the pipe is exposed we will discount that to $700. I said ""I can't believe you just said that with a straight face"". I added ""let me think about it"". They went out to the truck to see if they had a S curve piece of pipe. Meanwhile I called my plumber buddy (BTW In-line Plumbing if you want an honest plumbing company to work with) and explained my situation. He said based on what you are saying it shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred bucks. I hung up, went outside and said I wouldn't be using the service. They left. A few minutes later I get a call from them saying ""well we talked to our manager and he said we could do it for $350"". I replied ""you guys have no integrity and I will be spreading this message to others"". We just had In-Plumbing do the work today. Trent took 15 minutes to do it and the bill was $139.95"" Whipple Plumbing should be called ""Ripoff Plumbing""! Please spread the word to anyone you know.
Worst ever. To have my sewer replaced was a nightmare. I believe they used undocumented workers for digging. They told me they were from Mexico and Guatemala. They all arrived together, separate from the ""professionals.""
Whipple replaced 2 parts of the sewer, but it soon was broken again. They ended up fixing it one repair once and the other twice. In the meantime we were backed up again 3 times. They were pretty fast at coming for the repair, though and did them for free.
They also did not pull a permit to do the work. I called the city and they confirmed that there was no permit and Whipple ended up getting one. Surely a professional company would not have these things going on.
They came quickly to repair an underground water leak in my front yard. I paid them $1,400.00, and filled out a form indicating the work was done satisfactorily.
A few days (and several thousand gallons) later, I found that it was still leaking. They came back, turned off my water, dug a hole, and never returned again.
Every time I called to inquire, they tried to tell me the work was complete. A little silly, considering the hole in my yard, missing plumbing (that they took with them), and lack of water.
After 4 days of waiting, I went and bought replacements for the parts they stole, and put it back together myself. I know how to do plumbing, and it would have taken less time to do it myself in the first place. Anyway, I never could get them on the phone after that.
When my credit card statement came I disputed a portion of their charge. That has worked fine for me before, and has helped me to get issues resolved. Unfortunately, because of the form I filled out on their first visit, the credit card company denied my claim without discussion.
I was too busy to try and fight them over it, so I just let it go. ...or so I thought. However, they keep sending me advertisements bragging about their service record, and money back guarantee. Each time it reminds me of how they cheated me, and makes it hard to forget about it.
If you're considering hiring Whipple, just don't. It will save you time and money in the long run.
Big Mistake to call this ""reputable"" company. Watch out for the promises that are made to get you to sign up for their extended service agreement. This monthly fee was offered to reduce the cost of a water heater (which happened) but when we called to get the free toilet repair that was also promised they said it wasn't part of the deal. We did not ""misunderstand"" as we went over the terms several times but, of course, did not read all the fine print so didn't have it in writing. In addition to providing plumbing services and parts at over the top prices the company offers free checkups but the technician ""found"" several other areas that needed to be fixed. We declined but after he left found that the handle on a toilet was not working. It worked before he checked it. When I called to have them come back to fix it I asked if there would be a charge for this service and was told no. Technician came 4 hours after was promised and I was charged over 100 dollars for the part .... a handle for a toilet.
Paid the man just to be done with this company. Will not call them again.
Steve N.Technician's name was Byron and he did a great job. Very Professional went above and beyond to help out and provide great professional service. Other's have posted negative reviews, My experience was very different. Would Highly recommend.
