Company Overview

As a comprehensive residential construction firm, West End Construction offers the expertise to design your ideal home or construct a brand new retail space -- and everything that lies in the middle. The residential building industry runs in the family of founder Chris Sutton, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the field, which ensures that he can complete a project that is completely up to code, staying within budget, and, most importantly, results in a beautiful structure you'll appreciate.

Many kids throw a ball with their fathers or go fishing at the local pond, Chris Sutton was nailing and cutting wood alongside his dad. Chris, the CEO of West End Construction, started his journey in home building at a young age with his father, a home contractor. Chris rapidly fell in love with constructing things, and as he came of age, he turned this passion into a rewarding career, venturing into land development, commercial projects, and subdivision work. Now, with over 15 years of practical experience, Chris and his team, which includes Vice President Boyce Byrum and Sales Manager Tim Brock, are eager to kick off your building project.

I agree with Lee... West End Construction keep my last that I worked for in June 2022. Till this day I haven't received my check. I was looking for another job while still employed for them. They got wind of it and fired me and keep my last check. It's February 1,2023 and I still haven't received my check from June 2022.DO NOT WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE.

West End Construction LLC is not a good company to work for. Not only are they shady to their customers, but they screw over their employees even more. First off, there is no timeclock to punch in and out on, they pay you on drive time, in which they predetermine. You are working off the clock to do your morning truck inspection, fueling the truck at the end of the day, and if you get stuck in traffic, it's your own time. Yup, all on your own time! Next, they feel that they can change the rules on how much they pay you per hour. The trucking manager completely lies about what he offers you for your wage and you don't find out unless you go through your paystub thoroughly (and you have to request a paystub, it is not offered). And if you question your pay, they blackball you and don't give you work for days. After that, GOD forbid something happens to the truck on a jobsite, they try to hold you responsible for paying for the repairs. If you make it through all of that and then decide to leave, they reserve the right to hold your last paycheck for 21 days so that they can find reasons not to pay you your last check. Buddy (trucking manager) is a very shady individual and he fits in quite well with the reputation of this company.
After reading all of these other reviews of West End Construction, I find it very hard to believe that the owner Chris Sutton does not know that these practices are going on! But then again, nothing surprises me!
DO NOT HIRE THEM OR GO WORK FOR THEM!

We had a signed contract with West End to build us a home with an estimated completion date of April 1, 2021. Once March rolled around, the homes foundation wasn't even complete. We tried to ask questions, which they were very unresponsive to, but we continued to be patient since we knew the market was hot and we were happy we at least were under contract. Mid-March we get an email out of the blue which states we owe an extra ~$40,000 for the increase in lumber on the home (Covid-related supposedly) and our options were to either pay it or back out of the contract. The owner refused to show any documentation to prove how he came up with the new price we owed him (example: invoices, estimates, framing subcontractor contract). Ultimately we decided not to go down the route of legal action as we didn't want to pay to put a lawyer on retainer. Once we backed out he relisted the home for ~$120,000 more. They do not care about anything other than money

We hired Chris Sutton in October 2019 to build our pottery studio. He is definitely a smooth talking salesman. He made us believe that he really cared about our project and that he was going to make sure we got a quality product. There were weeks and then months between times when he sent crews out. Each time the crew made mistakes and we informed Chris. Eventually, he began ignoring our calls, texts and emails. Never finished the work he promised to do. Workers he hired to do framing, etc., came to my door asking if I've seen Chris because he never paid them (even though he refused to do any work without us paying HIM). They left our project in a completely messed up state. two years later, we are STILL not moved in and Chris has still NEVER responded to my questions about why certain aspects of our building were incomplete and just plain wrong. He doesn't care about his customers. He's after the big jobs. He's burned many bridges, yet somehow continues to stay in business. Not sure how he sleeps at night. Avoid west end construction and Chris Sutton at SLL costs. John Dobbs was his henchman (they called him foreman) for a while. He was rude and also ignored our calls. He yelled at my wife when she informed him the loft they built was half the size we had agreed on. Spread the word. These are crooked individuals.

This company lied multiple times throughout our project. Then could not complete the project after almost 2 years. Once we mutually ended the contract, the owner of WEG stole my house plans I purchased. Do not recommend!!

Stay away. The owner Chris Sutton is a fraud. I paid him almost 14,000 for a job he never finished. He still owes me over 5,000 dollars. I ended up finishing the job on my own. He has several complaints through the BBB under his old business name SCS Contractors and Services.
