Steven P.I have used Weltman for several years. Heating, AC, plumbing. All the techs I've dealt with are knowledgeable and thorough. They offer convenience, experience and are available 24\7. The one gripe I have is that their prices are on the high side (as others have stated). Coupons are a must. This holds me back from giving 5 stars.
I've used Weltman's twice and have been very satisfied with their work. Rich H. came out for our first call and was very nice and professional so I recommended he come back (to our recently purchased home) when we needed a plumber again. He let us know all of our options, explained what the possible issues could be, then took care of it. Have had no problems since. Ask for Rich, he'll take care of it!
Bryan R.Amybody who uses weltman home sevices should beware that they over charge you for services that any other plumbet or electrician would charge. The average price for service ends up being 500.00 per hour. The service plan is a complete scam. They also unjustly fire employees when it benefits them. They discriminate against men if they have a tattoo and other off the wall requests. As a home owner I would think long and hatd before ever using them. USER BEWARE
I will NOT use Weltman Home Services ever again nor would I ever recommend them. This company is completely unethical.
My tenants heat had gone out on a Sunday night. Called two 24/7 places and Weltman got back to me first (the ONLY positive). The tech diagnosed the problem as a bad blower motor. He quoted me a price of almost $1600 AND tried to sell me one of their service contracts, which seemed to be his main priority. I told him i would just pay him for the service call ($170) and would have to call back in the morning. After calling around in the morning I found a local place that replaced the motor for me ( along with a bad heat sensor that the Weltman tech missed) for just $485.
The Weltman tech blatantly lied to me saying that the blower motor needed to be ""balanced"", along with a bunch of other diagnostic B.S. The other tech explained that these motors are self balancing. Nice try, Charlie!
This company is out to prey on the uniformed and desperate consumer. I'd stay away from these scam artists.
Dennis M.Insane billing rates, called for an emergency repair and was charged $160 to show up, $401 for the repair and with tax came to $600. The repair was replacing a thermocouple which cost $11.58 at Home Depot and was completed in under 30 minutes.
Tech was good, and very knowledgeable, but I will never call them again.
Rick W.I DO NOT TRUST THEM!
I called them in late 2012 b/c I could not get my furnace pilot to stay lit. They replaced the thermocouple, a $30 item and charged more than an arm. The next day the heat was out in one zone. They came back and found a different, unrelated issue and charged me for the leg!!!
15 months later and the pilot won't light. A friend with knowledge said the thermocouple is rusted out. Weltman says (and somewhat rudely) that they would be happy to come out for $49 and that there may be another issue which caused a brand new thermocouple to rust out so quickly (btw: my old one was more than 10 years old).
I either have exceptionally poor furnace luck or I'm being set up for another pricey ride. I will never know for sure but LACK OF TRUST + RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRICES = CALL SOMEONE ELSE!
Elayne M.I only had one experience with Weltman but it wasn't a good one. They were responsive, professional, etc. but the person who looked at my heating system which had stopped working told me something that was just not true - that the turbine or something had seized up and could no longer move and the system would have to be replaced. Well the next day my dad came over and said it was not seized up and even got it working again temporarily. Will not be using them again
Really no stars but that is not allowed. I hired these guys 7 years ago initially to install my AC and the guy that sold it to us mentioned that they also did home remodeling when he saw we were doing a renovation. We had called them initially because their sticker was on the hot water tank in the house and being new to the area we thought we would stay with someone that knew the house. The AC installation went okay with the exception of the air vent installed right over the 5 burner stove, a wasted effort to cool the kitchen when using the stove. So to the bathroom they were installing from scratch and the replacement of the plumbing going to and from said bathroom. We took a wall out to expand the kitchen and came home to find they had run the new pipes where the wall used to be. Apparently they thought the wall was removed for their convenience. They removed them and installed them uninsulated in an exterior wall which luckily we discovered by accident and was able to fix. They were to install the tile in the shower a rather simple design using 1"" mosaic and 1/4 "" mosaic. Although my husband a micro engineer grad drew the plans with a scale they somehow screwed that up and we stayed up until 3am removing the tile and scraping the thinset to reuse. After their exorbitant prices purchasing new marble replacements was not an option. Oh wait I am omitting the most salient point of this narrative, the timeline. The house has only one shower and they had written a contract that promised we would be completed in 3-4 weeks since we would have at least two people on-site everyday. My husband and I showered at a gym for over 3 months as the project dragged on. A few days I was home and we had one person for a couple of hours, never saw our project manager who was to be there at least once a week to check in. The final straw that broke this camel's back was the hot water tank. Apparently they had disconnected it for whatever reason and had neglected to replace the pipe that would allow the hot water to run off safely into the bucket, the relief valve, if the pressure ever got too high. This pipe when not attached pointed the valve almost 5 ft 7"" into the air and towards my pantry door that I used at least 4 times a day when cooking. At any point I could have been sprayed in the face with water at 140 degrees. My husband promptly called them, I promptly called my lawyer. i wanted them gone. The faucets in the bathroom were uninstalled, there was no toilet, no shower door, no heated floor, tile or drywall outside the shower stall. They countered with there is still $10k owed on this project. I countered with the timeline, their careless mistakes and the sheer misrepresentation of their skills. Heating and air is not building a bathroom and frankly I would have preferred them to take everything out that they had touched and give me every cent back. They walked away. My husband and I finished the bathroom, working on weekends and after hours. Fully insulated, new sub-floor, heated marble floors, 4 foot long heated towel rack, wall mounted faucets, moisture resistant drywall and paint. PVC trim for crown molding, baseboard and window trim. Nothing that can mildew or rot. Chair height toilet. My husband built a custom 6 ft vanity that looks like an antique sideboard. ABC Shower doors out of Brooklyn did a stellar job with the 8ft wide glass for the double-shower. Finally it was done. Not quite with the Weltman issues. One of the flanges on the handheld shower was rusting a year after installation and we called the manufacturer as this was high-end. They were mortified and overnighted a replacement. When my husband went to the box the original shower had come in to get the installation tool guess what we found? The original flange had called for a tool Weltman must not have had so they put an inexpensive lower quality flange instead. Both flanges were in the box still wrapped. Surprise number two came a couple months later when our water in our brand spanking new shower was not draining. Turned out that when we said replace ALL the plumbing to and from the bathroom they thought we meant most of it. The pipe going to the stack was not replaced. The pipe that was installed almost 85 years ago. The reason we had to replace all the plumbing. Just in case I am not being clear, they left a 5ft piece of galvanized pipe that was completely accessible in the completely gutted bathroom. So now we have to regularly snake and plunge a shower that is barely 7 years old. I do not often wish bad on most people but for the amount of money we spent on that shower for it to be the only part of the bathroom that does not work considering it was the only part they finished makes my blood boil. They sold themselves a more expensive but worth it for quick quality work, they delivered neither. The only fix short of demoing the entire thing would be to drop my kitchen ceiling. Beware Welt
Don't ever get a service contract from them. They might seem great at first but then the service tails off. I calling today to cancel my platinum service agreement (plumbing, heating, electrical) because I called for an emergency electrical problem on Friday August 30, 2013 at 4:00 PM and they said they didn't have an electrician until Tuesday due to the holiday weekend. So what am I paying a monthly service fee for? Of course I had to yell at them over the phone and no managers were in the office but the operator then told me they don't send electricians out at night. Their website says 24/7 emergency support. Apparently, they don't know what the 24 or the 7 stand for. The prices are also astronomical.
Weltman charges high fees for their services based upon quality work; not true. Weltman's service fees are out of line with the current market and service standards fall within the lower-range of any service organization that offers contracts for preferred rates. The technician was still unable to respond to my question even after three service visits. Stick with a dedicated trade professional to perform the work.
Not returning phone calls in unacceptable in any service-related industry.
$1200 to furnish/replace three outdoor light fixtures and $200 to fix two years later. It took three weeks to have fixture repaired, but after paying the $200, light still didn't work . They did come back and changed the bulb (even though it had nine year life expectancy) as a ""one time courtesy"". You be the judge.
