As usual, Weltman comes through. They offered a free sum pump check up which is a very good idea considering a Nor'easter was coming. Trees down, power out, but our generator keeps the sum pumps running and it is comforting to have a free check up!
Also, Jeff Maddaluna changed the battery on a beeping smoke detector, now that's a nice guy.

Weltman told me my heater needed a $1400 part but the rep was unsure if that would fix the problem. He then told me I might need more repairs costing almost $4000.

I asked him to replace the part and he needed a $400 deposit. That night the part he said that needed to be replaced worked fine. I called them and explained that their service rep misdiagnosed my problem and I was cancelling my parts and service request.

Next day another person fixes the heater for less than $400.

A few days later I see that Weltman charged me the $400 even though they provided no service.

If you use this company they will take advantage and at a minimum overcharge you.

I can't say enough great things about the people on the phone and the gentleman who came to my house to repair a pump in my heating system. However, the company itself sucks! At signing a contract to have the faulty part replaced, ($1,400), I was told that the tech would come back the next morning to replace that part and restore the heat in my house. The next morning, I was told that I had to wait another 3 days in order to get the part that was exactly like the one I had; but if I wanted to get ""Brand X"", the guy could install it the same afternoon. It was 19 degrees, and of course I could not wait another 3 days. I had no choice but to let him install the Brand X part. I later discovered that the part itself only costs $85, and the guy only spent about 3 hours of his time troubleshooting and replacing that part. 1) They did not reduce the price for the Brand X, and 2) How much are they charging per hour for labor? I highly DO NOT recommend this company!!!

We contacted this company to replace two smoke detectors in our house. We had purchased the detectors for $85. a piece at Home Depot. The tech. arrived and was a nice guy. The cost for the replacement was $200. He then told us a third detector needed replacement. He charged us $185. for his detector alone. Then another $100. to install the third detector. The total cost for the job was $507. The total work consisted of about 35 minutes. $300. for a thirty five minute job seems a little steep. We would never use this company again, or recommend it to anybody.

The laundry sink drain in our basement was clogged & since I had seen a Weltman truck in our neighborhood (New Providence, NJ) I phoned for a quote but instead was told a $49 charge would be incurred when the rep came and assessed the job.When he came several hours later he agreed it was the line from the laundry sink to the main drain and quoted $285 plus tax.
I told him I thought that price was very steep (since I'd seen competitor ads for $99) and asked if there were a discount (senior, veteran etc). He said NO but could waive the $49 house call charge ? and showed me an Ipad screen listing Weltman's charges for drain cleaning ( which displayed a price ABOVE $500 for a laundry sink drain but said he would use the $285 charge shown for a vanity sink ? At this point I reluctantly agreed since it would have cost $49 to decline and have him leave.
He used a hand held electric snake and was able to clear the clog. I asked about a warranty and when he asked for how long I suggested 60 days to which he replied he could do 30 days. Yesterday, 38 DAYS LATER, the same drain clogged again so I phoned Weltman and explained that altho we were 8 days beyond the 30 day warranty the rep gave I asked that they re do the job at no cost since it happened so soon and just my wife and I reside in the house and don't run the clothes washer very often. I was treated as though it was my original request ($49 plus whatever the rep would want after arrival) so I asked the woman if I could speak with a mgr but she said he wasn't there.
I asked if she would have him call me and she said she would E Mail him and request that he call me. Within minutes, the same woman called me back and said her mgr said 30 days was the policy. She asked if I wanted a rep to come out. I said I would get back to her after I thought about it.
I then phoned a well known competitor and asked for a quotes since they advertise ""Any drain cleaned for $99"". On the phone they said $99, came two hours later and used a large machine on wheels (vs the small hand held tool Weltman used). This man ran that snake 75 feet out beyond the laundry sink drain line into the line that goes to the street (vs 20 feet the Weltman tech told me he did). Not only did this new company honor their $99 advertised price but applied a 5% Senior discount without being asked AND warranties the job for a FULL YEAR during which they will come back AT NO Charge one time.
Weltman charged us THREE TIMES as much and obviously didn't do the job properly and then wanted $49 to return (plus probably another $285 + tax to do it again).
PS: Before writing this, I phoned Weltman to tell them of my displeasure as well as the fact that I had to spend an additional $99 to do the job after paying them THREE TIMES that much just 38 days prior (during which we may have used the clothes washer a half dozen times).The man I spoke with today at Weltman offered nothing but said he would make his manager aware (after I requested that he take my name and phone.
Reason of review: Over Priced and unwilling to return to correct the original problem .
Monetary Loss: $300.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
Charged us Three times the price and didn't correct the problem.
It's now three days later & I've had no response to my request for a Weltman manager to contact me.

Furnace blew out two days ago. We called and explained over the phone what we were experiencing. The rep said they will have someone call us back.

It's two days later and we still have not received a call. But thank you Weltman because due to the lack of your customer service we were able to find a company that puts customer service as a priority and our system is up and running!

Had a 20 year old gas furnace that stopped working (on the first really cold day we had). Dave B came out and not only diagnosed the problem but took time to review all the components of the heating system and how they work together. It was very informative. Worth the $49 visit.

I have to say the prices for repairs were quite high ($2,000) to replace a small motor and 2 sensors. But Dave B was just getting this from his company iPad. I also think this is standard for service companies.

I finally decided to replace the 20 year old furnace (common advise) at about $4,500. Haven't done this yet. To be continued.

Karl is a knowledgeable professional, he was insightful to trouble shooting the problem, is courteous, patient, organized and conscience.

The next day I called again to check on the functioning of a product he attempted to repair rather than remove ( Im fussy) and Karl made the appliance work and did not give up! Weltman company was just as courteous and agreeable

I recommend Karl and WHS as a trusted company for superior service.
